CaptainXabi Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Which game would you choose ? Athens. Hopefully to cancel out that Inzaghi arm goal.
Cobs Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 1988 FA Cup Final - so Beardsley’s goal in the 1st half would have stood, is the one that immediately springs to mind.
Cobs Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 1988 FA Cup Final - so Beardsley’s goal in the 1st half would have stood, is the one that immediately springs to mind. We wouldn't have got the penalty that Aldridge missed either, i reckon - but we'd have done them anyway. f*** the 'crazy gang'.
PhilM Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Man City away in 13/14. Sterling's goal doesn't get disallowed. Lescott's shirt pull on Suarez gets given as a penalty. We win the league. But then Rodgers probably doesn't get sacked. Oh, I don't know.
Cobs Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 the '65 European Cup Semi Final, away leg, is another - though CORRUPTION might still have robbed us of being the 1st English club to win the European Cup.'78 League Cup Final replay - Forest get a free-kick instead of a last minute penalty. The b*****ds.
Crazy Horse Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 1985 European Cup Final - Platini penalty

Oh, I don't know.wasn't there a game that season we drew at anfield where we had a goal disallowed from a free kick, which should have stood.around oct/nov time.
Mick_G Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 1985 European Cup Final - Platini penalty Boniek was miles outside the box https://youtu.be/8lGi12zUIQg 58.15 in shows the replay, not even close.
Hightown Phil Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 wasn't there a game that season we drew at anfield where we had a goal disallowed from a free kick, which should have stood.around oct/nov time. Was that not 08/09? Stoke at home?
Benzo-13 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Was that not 08/09? Stoke at home? That’s the one. I’d go with that. We win the league on that I reckon. Maybe.
EC_Red Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 ECSF - Luis Garcia's goal Sheila saw it cross the line!
Leo No.8 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 ECSF - Luis Garcia's goal This - so we could have the penalty and sending off and enjoy the rest of what proved to be a much more comfortable win. Without having to suffer the absolute terror of that Gudjonsen shot across goal.
RP Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 We'd have missed the penalty. Chelsea would have taken strength form this and won on penalties. I do wish we had post-match evidence of that goal though - and it proved what we all know/hope, that it never crossed the line at all.
Conrad Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Was that not 08/09? Stoke at home?YesThat’s the one
Hassony Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 United beating spurs in 08-09 Although Webb probably would have overruled the VAR, the bald cheating c***

MarkD Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Arsenal at home in '89, Smith never touched the ball from the indirect free kick (imo)!
RP Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Arsenal at home in '89, Smith never touched the ball from the indirect free kick (imo)! We have a winner.
Ombudsam Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Man City away in 13/14. Sterling's goal doesn't get disallowed. Lescott's shirt pull on Suarez gets given as a penalty. We win the league. But then Rodgers probably doesn't get sacked. Oh, I don't know. That would be a waste. We went 1-0 up after that
Nebraska Red Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 We have a winner.Agreed. Terrible decision leading to a terrible night. I still remember standing on the Kop for what seemed like hours after the match. Stunned disbelief.
Jim D Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 (edited) Inter Milan European Cup Semi Final away leg in 1965. That game was truly bent. One goal was scored from an indirect free kick, another was kicked out of the goalkeeper hands. I believe Tommy Smith kicked the referee at the end of the game. Very likely we would've been the first British team to win the European Cup. Edited February 22, 2018 by Jim D
stressederic Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 All the good ones have gone (and the Smith '89 one is clearly the right answer) but I'd go for the tackle by Eto'o in 13/14 away at Chelsea. He gets sent off for it, we score immediately afterwards and win that match. Gives us the extra points we'd need to mitigate the game we never speak about and we wouldn't need to go recklessly all out versus Palace. As a result; we win the league.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Arsenal at home in '89, Smith never touched the ball from the indirect free kick (imo)! God - erased from my memory but yes this is #1. Cobs' 1988 FACF is #2This - so we could have the penalty and sending off and enjoy the rest of what proved to be a much more comfortable win. Without having to suffer the absolute terror of that Gudjonsen shot across goal. I get a great deal of sick pleasure from that. Now, at least...
