Liverpool FC v West Ham United - Saturday 24 February - 3pm

Hammers have had a longer break than us and still fighting for survival. Arnautovic is in top form since Moyseh took over.

Can returns from his European suspension. I'd play:

Karius

Trent Lovren Van Dijk Robertson

Can Wijnaldum OX

Salah Bobby Mane

Don't see Ox starting. MIlner probably deserves is but it doesn't feel like he starts these types of games lately. Home against bottom half types

Win this and we go second by a point, with Man U to play Chelsea on the Sunday.

Interesting run of games for them: Seville (A), Chelsea (H), Palace (A), Us (H), Sevilla (H). They've got to hope they put up a decent win against Sevilla in the first leg or they've got to have an eye on the 2nd leg when they play us.

We've got the luxury of being able to rest key players for the 2nd leg before we play them

The resting thing is only an advantage if the game is in the balance for them against Seville... Quite like to see a 2/3 - 1 Seville win on that basis

I don't rate Seville (except v us) but with the way United play you wouldn't expect them to be in a commanding lead going into the 2nd leg. Everything points towards that tie still being in the balance.

Anyway - f*** that lot. Last week's result allows us to go full strength for the next two league games and not worry about the second leg too much. Want to see Moyes crying on the bench

No reason not to go full strength for this - 10 day rest and got a week before Newcastle.

Yeah, some nice spacing now, Sat, Sat then Tues against Porto which we can take easy before the Mancs on the following Sat.

It would be nuts to go anything but full strength for West Ham. 10 days rest since Porto and 7 days til Newcastle. Footballers need to play actual football matches.

Only question is, what's our best midfield ? I think it's Henderson, Can and Lallana. Klopp may prefer to pick Chamberlain and give Lallana half an hour.

I don't think Lallana is fully back 'in' in the bosses mind yet. Wanted him to come on and show some silky swan action v Porto away but he didn't.

agree except we are so heavily reliant on having our front three available

whereas we can rest anyone else except VVD, Karius and Robertson

so there's a case not so much for resting players, but making sure they don't  get injured - by not playing them

having said that, the risk of that happening in any given match vs the risk of losing points by not playing them at all is hard to gauge

so the best policy is probably to roar in to a 4-0 lead, sub the front three and sit tight

I think it's Can, Wijnaldum and Chamberlain, although the latter has been a little off form lately.

Every time someone says "if we win this and if they lose that that then we'll be x points ahead" we always mess it up.

f***ing expecting an Arnautovic hatrick.

Mockers.

Henderson, Keita, Lallana

not so long ago we were saying it was Hendo or Can & the MF was useless if both played

Questions are :

Does Gomez get some match time at right back?

Who partners vvd - matip, lovren or klavan?

Does lallana get some match fitness from the start?

Who plays alongside Henderson?

Should be an ideal game for Lallana to start.

Full strength with Hendo, Lallana and one of Milner or Gini. Gomez possibly better equipped to deal with Arnautovic

Trent has been very good lately whilst Gomez made a couple of errors before getting a break. I think TAA should keep his place, especially as WH will be playing Moyez-ball. He offers more going forward.
