Billy Talbot Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Now... is he just a bad ref that seems to have peculiarly bad games with us involved or what?
Hassony Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 He's a bad ref Not sure what decisions he got wrong today though

Nebraska Red Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 The first should have been seen by his assistant, the second was the kind of challenge that gets missed every week. He's not a great ref, but he wasn't that bad today. Only 4 minutes added time was a f***ing joke though.

"just count needless freekicks from innocuous fouls within 10 yards of the half way line.". Doesn't matter who they go to. I stopped counting them within 5 or so minutes. He had no intention of letting the game run. Always in favour of a side dropping deep and with lead. Even when they're the ones committing fouls. Don't get me started on Barry. Nebraska Red Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 If I'm not mistaken, the ref doesn't go to VAR, it goes to him because the ref watching has seen something.

Also, Marriner can watch a replay of the Salah incident and advise Pawson. Doesn’t have to be the ref who initiates the review process.

Earl Hafler Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Goal decisions are fairly obvious, penalty decisions the match ref has the final say. Pawson should have been over to the pitch side monitor much sooner for the penalty yesterday but wasn’t helped by Evans and other WBA players constantly trying to influence his opinion. Clubs must inform players not to speak to the officials during the review process.

BUT the penalty must have been alerted to him by Mariner. However, is it only goal-related incidents that are reviewed then? Because that bad bell should have walked for that challenge on Firmino

Billy Dane Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Pardew is going on about the penalty decision taking 4 minutes, with that, the other two VAR reviews, 4 goals, time wasting by Foster and injuries/subs why was only 4 minutes injury time added on at the end of the 1st half? Think time keeping should be handed over to the 4th official.

Or, we go to 30 minutes of actual play with the clock stopped each time the ball is out of play or the game is stopped by the ref.
Hightown Phil Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Foster in the last 10 minutes was a joke. He had the ball for 18 seconds at one point.

Billy Dane Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Up to our lot to really get in the refs ear about the time wasting as well -as usual we just sat back and waited for Foster to release the ball. Suarez used to count down the seconds the keeper was holding the ball.

Mignolet has fcking tried this ... and been the only Keeper since the dawn of time to be done for it. The crowd is as much to blame for that - should be screaming the place down as soon as the oppo keeper gets the ball in his hands.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Suarez used to count down 6s all the time. It's one of those things I hate - and our keepers never do it when we need them to - routine ball through, keeper goes to ground to claim it. Then lies there for 6-10 secs, then holds the ball for about another 10, then drops it at his feet and waits till someone makes a move to close him down.... I mean, it's what he should be doing but it grates
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Need to go back to 1950s rules. Start laying the boot in when the keeper's on the deck. That'll get him on his feet pronto & incentivize him to rid himself of the ball
