When will this madness stop in Scotland?

Surely nobody up there still believes the Scottish Prem is still a real competition?

I really don't understand why Celtic fans get excited when they win.

The point being that it's unlikely now that any team other than Celtic are going to win the league or a domestic cup for at least 10 years or more.

Absolute madness.

I know there has always been talk about Celtic coming to playing in England and it gets laughed off but something has to change up there.

Rogers isn't deluded. He knows Celtic can't compete in England and are a joke in europe but he loves the money so makes it sound like the Scottish Prem is worth winning. He knows it's a job for life but only as long as Celtic remain in Scotland.

I've always thought that the whole country should have one league system. I personally would love to have Celtic and Rangers in the Prem. If they were good enough that is.

It is silly anyway with Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Wrexham and Berwick being weird exceptions.

rangers are on the floor again, could get would up

Would they get dropped down the divisions again?

Yea I think playing the same teams 4 times a season doesn't help.

They would be better with a Prem and a Championship. 20 teams in each league.

Over time, say 10 years, playing varied opponents with help bring the quality of football to a higher standard.

If Celtic and rangers had any ambition they would’ve entered a second team at the bottom tier of English pyramid. Would’ve been in premier league or championship by now. And done it the right way.

Yep. That would be the way to do it. Pay your dues.

I think at this stage, a play-off system to decide the champion is basically the way to go for leagues like this.  Pretty sure they already use one in Brazil FWIW.

They could have 6 play-off places, with the top 2 teams getting a bye in the first round to reward good performance in the regular season.

But the actual championship of Scotland would be awarded to the team that wins after three rounds of two-legged play offs.

There's no doubt that the first-past-the-post system is a better way to determine the best team, but it's often the case that the best team wins in a play-off system anyway.

It would keep the entire Scottish season interesting as teams scramble for a play-off place, while giving clubs like Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs the belief that they might be able to win a championship by springing an upset in the play-offs.

Sadly, when you have such vast inequalities as currently exist, the first-past-the post system just turns a football season into an exercise in pointlessness.

With the level of global support that Celtic has, the size of their stadium, their history etc, they would ultimately do very well in the Premier League.

If this was true they would already have the resources to compete properly in the champions league. Their global fan based is a myth.

Not really. When did France join the UK?

The French are as much members of the English League as the Scots are.

(Yes, Welsh teams but that's a historical exception).

Scotland's only hope is a Euro league as they'll never let Celtic or Rangers join the English system

The Thai Tims beg to differ

Any Celtic fans knoxking about on the forum?

Aren't you embarrassed having a big celebration every year as if something has really been worked for and earned when in reality you haven't even broken a sweat?

It's this lack of effort required domesticly that makes Celtic look like part timers in europe.

Frankly I'm surprised EUFA havnt taken Scotlands champions league place from them and just made them a europa team. Celtic already have to play a qualifier don't they?

I can see it happening if things don't change.

They wouldn't be allowed to enter.

OK well maybe a cup.

But not the league

Yeah, I'll take that - I bet somebody other than Celtic WILL win one of the next 10 SPL titles (including 2017/18)
