Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Big f***ing game this. Expect Moscow to dispense with Maribor, so that would leave it very tight at the top (unless we win, then we're on easy street) Matip ruled out

McBain Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Pretty relaxed about this. All the pressure is on them. We'll counter the hell out of them
Mick_G Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 On train from Madrid to Seville now, happy days If anyone fancies meeting up later let me know.

Stanley Leisure Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Jealous of you guyz, i’ve never done a european away and this one’s a cracker.
Case Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Brain going here, so this is one for Macca or similar maths geniuses. Am I right in thinking that points-wise, not the emotional impact of football, but pure points, that it doesn't matter a damn whether we draw or lose tonight in terms of what it would mean for the last game? In other words, if we didn't win tonight, we'd still just need one point v Spartak. Is that right? If so, why not play ALL the attacking ladz.
McBain Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Win, we guarantee we're top with a draw v spartak. Draw, we only need a draw v spartak as long as its not 2-2 or higher Lose, we need to beat spartak All on the assumption spartak beat maribor That's how I see it. Anyone got owt different?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 21, 2017 Author Posted November 21, 2017 (edited) The Echo did a thing after our last game on the perms lose tonight & Moscow win & we're both on 8pts. A draw at Anfield and it's head to head - 0-0 we go through on away goals, 1-1 it's down to GD, 2-2 or higher we go out. Not losing tonight is vital - the group would probably look like this if we draw - LFC - 9Spartak - 8Sevilla - 8Maribor - 1 Edited November 21, 2017 by Sir Tokyo Sexwale
Ripley Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Anybody know which channel showing it in Spain?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 21, 2017 Author Posted November 21, 2017 yeah good point - in Madrid now on way to Barca, so will need to find it later to cause a revolution in

So our away goals v Maribor are worth bugger all other than the three points. Got it. Ta.
Flasher Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Meanwhile, Dirk Kuyt has been at Anfield today. What a great day already.
Will Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Down Memory Lane YNWA looks back at our only previous meetings with the Spanish side, as we prepare to visit Los Rojiblancos on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Basel despairDaniel Sturridge gave us a half-time lead in the UEFA Europa League Final in Basel in May 2016, but we collapsed after the break to lose 3-1 with Jorge Moreno bagging a brace to add to a Kévin Gameiro strike. Midfielder Joe Allen, centre-forward Christian Benteke and centre-half Kolo Touré all played their last reds games. We had been denied a clear-cut penalty in the first half as the Spanish side went on to claim the trophy for the third consecutive season. Anfield disappointmentWe were held to a 2-2 draw in our first meeting in the group in September, despite dominating the game. We fell behind after five minutes to a Wissam Ben Yedder goal before Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah put us ahead at the break as we reached 200 home goals in Europe’s premier competition. Firmino missed a penalty before half-time, as it hit the post and bounced to safety. Joaquín Correa levelled for the visitors, with Joe Gomez sent off late on for two bookable offences.
Will Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Double Agents In advance of our second meeting in the Champions League group stage, YNWA looks at the careers of some of those who have represented both Sevilla and the reds over the years. Current double agentLeft-back Alberto Moreno joined the reds for £12m from his hometown club Sevilla in August 2014, netting three times in 125 reds games to date. He had struck three times in 62 outings for Sevilla since making his first-team debut in June 2011, helping them to clinch the UEFA Europa League in 2014. Also at the backRight-back Antonio Barragán signed from Sevilla for £240,000 in July 2005, although he had yet to play a first-team game. He moved on to Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña for €1m in August 2006, after just one senior reds appearance as we won 3-1 at CSKA Sofia in the first leg of our Champions League Third Qualifying Round tie in August 2005. Seville-born centre-half Daniel Sánchez Ayala signed from his hometown club for £160,000 in September 2007, having rejected a professional contract with Sevilla, making his senior debut as substitute in our 2-1 League defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in August 2009, and his first start as we thumped Stoke City 4-0 at Anfield three days later. He played five reds games in total before being sold to Norwich City for £850,000 in August 2011 after loan spells at Hull City and Derby County. Recently heading forwardLuis Alberto signed from Sevilla for £6.8m in June 2013, for whom he had only played nine first-team games, although he had spent the previous campaign on loan with Barcelona B. He only played twelve times in his first season, with only two of these appearances being from the start, as he struggled to break through to the first team. He spent two seasons on loan back in Spain, before joining S.S. Lazio for €4m in August 2016. Forward Iago Aspas signed from Real Club Celta de Vigo for £7.7m in June 2013, notching just once in fifteen senior outings. He returned to his former club for €5m in June 2015, having spent the previous season on loan at Sevilla, for whom he struck ten times in 26 outings. Other double agentsDanish midfielder Christian Poulsen was signed by Roy Hodgson for £4.5m from Juventus in August 2010 and played 21 reds games without scoring, moving on to French side Évian Thonon Gaillard a year later. He had joined Sevilla in the summer of 2006 after his contract with Schalke 04 had expired, helping them to claim the UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Cup, Spanish Cup and Supercopa before moving on to Juventus in July 2008 for €9.75m. Antonio Gómez Pérez joined the reds from Albacete Balompié in June 2009 to work with the reserves under John McMahon, but left for Real Valladolid a year later. He made fourteen League appearances for Sevilla in 1996/97 on loan from Real Madrid.
