Most good players are terrible pundits and analysts. Hoddle is f***ing shocking and I’ve no idea why ITV and BT have dragged him out of retirement.

 

The other night, he claimed Hart’s double save had kept England in the game but the ref had awarded a freekick.

Read it yesterday and it made me a bit sad,thinking back how it turned out. I remember hearing all about him from my grandad when he was in the youth teams,and then saw his debut goal at Selhurst. That Argentina goal,the treble season. It was a glorious few years and it was great watching him,in all honesty. The way he fell apart was sad,and especially the clubs he ended up playing for.

1998-2001 he was one of the top three players on the planet. Absolutely electrifying.

Yes. That was so exciting at the time. His pace was deadly in the beginning.

Then he left, missed Istanbul and his career went to s***.

I remember going over for a game v Leicester when he actually converted a penalty; he missed a good few. He was electrifying though in those first few years.

I was directly behind the path of his second at Cardiff in 2001. As soon as he took it on so early, and with his wrong foot, I was jumping up because I could see it was going in - and Seaman knew straight away as well. One if my all time favourite moments watching LFC.

Yeah, it was fantastic. I had to work that night and was the only time I've ever gone to work with 6 pints in me and wearing a Liverpool top. Much to my Arsenal supporting work colleagues annoyance.

Me too. It was such a hot day and we'd been on the back foot for most of the game. The elation when he scored both goals is still vivid.
