Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Reading the first couple of paras, I realize that I - and many of us - have forgotten quite how brilliant he was at the outset. As it says, by the time he was Rashford's age he'd scored 50 & won 2 golden boots... Weird though how out of 'the joy if 6' that only 3 are during his time with us and only 2 are actually LFC related. Still, good memories https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/oct/06/the-joy-of-six-the-best-of-michael-owen
Hassony Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 He was brilliant, shame he turned into a manc c*** later on
Cobs Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 To not have his hat-trick v Germany in that list is ludicrous
Bogman Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 He was brilliant, shame he turned into a manc c*** later on He was. c***.
Cobs Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Mentioned as part of the Ballon D’OrIt’s far more worthy of its own spot than his clasico/ Manc gials
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 think they way downplay his 1998 Argentina goal too. That was electrifying
Earl Hafler Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 It’s far more worthy of its own spot than his clasico/ Manc gialsOh aye. Strangely organised article and reminds me how much of a c*** he became as how talented he was.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 Oh aye. Strangely organised article and reminds me how much of a c*** he became as how talented he was. aye but it's Friday, so for today I'll choose to only remember the good times
Bogman Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 aye but it's Friday, so for today I'll choose to only remember the good times I get knocked down, then I get up again
Guatered Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Turned into a truly shocking pundit as well. I was thinking maybe there's some sort of weird correlation whereby the better a striker you are, the worse the pundit - exhibits a, b, and c being him, shearer and Henry. Then I remembered Steve Claridge and the theory fell apart
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 hahaha doesn't like films, Michael.

Hoddle is f***ing shocking and I’ve no idea why ITV and BT have dragged him out of retirement. The other night, he claimed Hart’s double save had kept England in the game but the ref had awarded a freekick.
The Hitman Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Read it yesterday and it made me a bit sad, thinking back how it turned out. I remember hearing all about him from my grandad when he was in the youth teams, and then saw his debut goal at Selhurst. That Argentina goal, the treble season. It was a glorious few years and it was great watching him,in all honesty. The way he fell apart was sad,and especially the clubs he ended up playing for.
New York Red Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 1998-2001 he was one of the top three players on the planet. Absolutely electrifying. He really dicked us around on the contract stuff before he left and that was unforgivable. It's sad really. I wish it had turned out different.
Flasher Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 think they way downplay his 1998 Argentina goal too. That was electrifyingYes. That was so exciting at the time. His pace was deadly in the beginning.
psl Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 He was so exciting when he first came through. And was consistently brilliant at the club. Then he left, missed Istanbul and his career went to s***.
heighway Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 (edited) I remember going over for a game v Leicester when he actually converted a penalty; he missed a good few. He was electrifying though in those first few years. Edited October 7, 2017 by heighway
Begbie Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Worst regular penalty taker I've ever seen Good at some other stuff mind
Rory Fitzgerald Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 A young Gerrard to a young Owen, it was brilliant to watch
New York Red Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 The goal against Argentina The 2001 FA Cup The hat-trick versus Germany The hat-trick in Rome Tearing Newcastle apart He really was good...
JRC Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 I was directly behind the path of his second at Cardiff in 2001. As soon as he took it on so early, and with his wrong foot, I was jumping up because I could see it was going in - and Seaman knew straight away as well. One if my all time favourite moments watching LFC.
D.Boon Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 One if my all time favourite moments watching LFC.Yeah, it was fantastic. I had to work that night and was the only time I've ever gone to work with 6 pints in me and wearing a Liverpool top. Much to my Arsenal supporting work colleagues annoyance.

One if my all time favourite moments watching LFC.Me too. It was such a hot day and we'd been on the back foot for most of the game. The elation when he scored both goals is still vivid.
