he's only scored about 14 goals in a glorified farmers league.

He's scored 27 goals in all competitions this season. 15 in 33 league games. 7 in 10 in the Champions league.

Ah yeah totally agree with that. Yeah not a fan of Sesko either, although their numbers aren't that too different

The difference between them, not having seen them play that much, is in the name: Ekitike sounds like a really boss desert blues music group from Mali, whereas Sesko could be a cheap off brand dairy dessert you find at Lidl.

I know we won't go for him, but i wonder if stylistically Solanke is the sort of forward Arne would like - physical, hard working, links play well and decent finisher. Has improved his finishing a lot since he was here

Don't bother reading it all - just zoom in on the penultimate paragraph for the "same old sh*t" angle.

I'd be f***ing chuffed if we built on winning the league by signing some top class players, that along with keeping Mo and Virgil is exactly what we need to give us the best shot of winning more big ones.

Haha! important disclaimer at the end, even if it does make sense, kinda. Really it's a bit odd if we've briefed that we're gonna throw money around, so it's likely journos just doing what they do...  We could well bring in 120-180 million worth in sales  - the higher number if we sell one of Diaz or Jota along with the likes of Kelleher, Tsimikas, Nunez, Chiesa, Endo, Morton, Phillips (lol, as if he'll ever leave...), maybe Gomez too  . So I don't expect a net spend of 200 million, but if we sell all of the above, I would hope we then spend 200 milion rather than just what we get from sales...

The Chiesa thread has become a bit "what should we do with the strikers" so moving the discussion back here. Mo and Cody will be staying, Nunez almost certainly going but there's question marks over the other 3

Your choices with Jota and Diaz are age, contract and in Jota's case injury-recored related - both are 28.5yo and have two years left:

In each case would you:

1) Offer them a new contract

2) Sell them this summer whilst you can get some value

3) Let them run their contracts down and leave on a free in two seasons time.

I'd say no chance we sell both, so hard to predict given we don't really know what Slot wants

Like - if you sell Nunez and bring in Alvarez, is someone like Jonathan David on a free then a good/different option to replace Jota, or do you want someone who can go wide

Diaz can cover a few positions, but where he stands depends whether Cody is seen as first choice for the left side, and who might be a realistic replacement

Isak, David and Nico WIlliams in, Nunez, Jota, Diaz out would probably be affordable relative to giving Diaz and Jota new deals, assuming decent fees for all three

Love the Arteta headline top right. You just know they are watching highlights of our match yesterday.

Same here

he offers a lot more than jota these days

I don't think we're planning to offer either of them a new contract, which is why I can see Diaz being sold. I think Jota stays 'cos we'll find him harder to shift unless he gets a Saudi offer or something.

Be mad if we ended up with a sudden Saudi clearout for the forwards like we did for the midfield.

It would, I can't see it - but then we never saw the midfield restructure being that radical either.

Remember stuff like this after the CL win in 2005. We were going to sign Aimar.

Amyway - what does a Slot no.9 look like? I have no clue.

We got lucky that teams were willing to pay us and take Fabhino and Henderson off our hands

Getting 40m for Fabhino was amazing

We did. We hadn’t signed a midfielder in 6 windows remember.

We were expecting new midfielders - but no-one was expecting it to be that radical at the start of that summer. Henderson leaving was a shock at the time.

If Santi Gimenez hadn’t gone to AC last year I’d suspect he would be a target.

Györkeres, Ekitike, Joao Pedro and Isak have all been discussed but I’d fancy the slightly more obscure names.

Thuram, Samu, Openda, Boniface and Retegui will be closely considered.

Saudi teams are looking at the three striker we are willing to sell.

Gimenez is crap, he's been struggling in Milan.

Joao Pedro has 10 in 26 this year, but five were penalties.

Thuram is one of those lads you only see at the word cup where he looks s***e.

Mind you, i always thought Lautaro Martinez was one of those lads you only see at the word cup where he looks s***e.
