Swipe Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Is Alvarez quick? He’s a terrific finisher and worker but I can’t remember if I’ve noticed if he has pace or not. Really needs to be a pre requisite for signings this summer. Even that kerkez lad would change things a fair bit in that regard.
Dan Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Reckon Cunha and Alvarez would be a massive outlay. Edited 9 hours ago by Dan

He's not slow, and his versatility to play anywhere up front including in Dom's role would be great. 1

If FSG want to keep making money, they need to spend money so we can have a chance of finishing in CL consistently. We saw what happened when we didnt from 2 years ago. If any one of the 3 leave [or all 3], thats even more money to use since it's not going to their wages. All in all they have no excuse. The only reason I'm confident we will, is because of what Slot has said not that long ago about plans in the summer.
Falconhoof Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago If we don't do exceptional business in the summer after being told how Hughes is a stud every week for a year, I will go postal. 1
Benzo-13 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago We have to buy some ready made players. We aren’t Dortmund or Chelsea who are buying magic beans and hoping they fruit. 1

Rusty Shackleford Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Why would we sign Alvarez? Other than us potentially having a go last summer, who says we are looking at him again. He went to a big team in a great City and for big money less than a year ago. Surely any chance to get him has now gone.

The time for futile transfer musings is when the transfer window opens for the other 19 clubs in the PL. That's very pessimistic NR. *divide 4042 pages by actual signings* No, he's right - stop now

Johna99 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I have a nagging feeling our squad strategy has changed. Last few seasons we have fallen off a cliff around march. I think they want to go from a smallish squad with a few elite highly paid players to a larger younger squad with decent but not elite paid players. I can see the 3 leaving this summer and even Allison to Saudi to reunited with his BBQ buddies. That's all our players on massive wages gone. When slott was appointed I remember reading feyenord fan views and they loved him and said he was ruthless when it came to moving players on that didn't fit how he wanted things I can even see Konate going to PSG. The one thing I can see stopping such a massive turnover on players is that we notoriously expect top whack for our sales and spend soo much time trying to negotiate incoming fees down limiting what we will be able to do in the time Also can't see us spending £120m on Isak. Similar scenario to Bellingham where we'd much rather get 3 players in on total less wages than one Isak on huge wages even if we flog Diaz and Nunez to Saudi. Hopefully we go for Ekiteth from Frankfurt, he seems a slot type no.9

Ed the Wool Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The worry is the number of ins we're going to need. VVD, Salah, Trent, Nunez, Jota could all go. Konate and Diaz possible. That's at least 6 first team starters. That kind of surgery means yet again we fail to capitalise on a title win and take two steps backward unless the business we do is absolutely perfect. Keeping Virgil and Mo makes that a lot less drastic. I've got concerns about Mo's legs going but a two year contract makes it worth the risk. I'd pay Virgil whatever he wants. He's got 3 years at the top level left in him am sure, and with a really quick reliable partner maybe even longer. Maybe if Virgil goes Trent stays to be captain, but I don't think that's the right way forward.
