It’s actually staggering how little he’s doing lately and he’s getting loads of starts. Today is more frustrating than Tuesday weirdly. Obviously a CL game is far worse to lose but we played okay and just lost to a really good team. Giving Newcastle f***ing United such an easy day is annoying.

Agreed. I'm much more bothered by today.

Even just a bit more like ourselves would have seen us compete. Also looked like one of those games from very early on.

Needs a bit is shake up, FSG need to back their manager

The front line needed the shake up last summer.

I know there was talk about giving Slot time to have a look at his players, but the data lads could have told him that Nunez is crap.

Yep. Could tell immediately we weren't at it and remained the case throughout.

Was the Southampton game but for both halves this time.

Not to give excuses but looked like a tired team against a team whose entire season was this moment.

Deffo they were desperate to win. Whenever the camera panned on Howe in the first half it looked like he was going to be sick. That's why that weirdo joelinton was celebrating every tackle like he won the lottery the prick.

Yep, from Slot too, first time I've thought his subs weren't that well thought out or structured.

Anyways, not trying to make this a Slot thread.

No idea what Slot has seen in Jota’s performances since about week 3 of the season to be starting him whenever he’s fit. So weak, gets bullied, sloppy, slow. Offering absolutely nothing at all, like playing with ten.

Tired of him and his injuries, would be selling him.

Yeah- still hugely disappointing but barring something unthinkable we will not remember this when we look back on this season

The only ‘natural’ alternative has zero composure in front of goal and a touch like a trampoline.

Agrees, he is also crap. You’d give Chiesa a go up there rather than either of them. Think he’s played there a fair bit? Least he brings energy and is a half decent footballer.

Can only assume the issue with Chiesa is still fitness and his ability to start games and not be goosed after 20 mins or suffer another bad knock.

Doubt we sell Jota, he is a good sub

He's s***e lad, needs sold. There's been vastly more times when he's been injured or crap than when he's been good.

I stand by my call of selling jota Diaz and Nunez this summer.

It's Nunez and Jota for me. I really like Jota when he is fit, but the frequency of his injuries in combination of his long recovery time makes him unfit for purpose. Nunez obviously has to change scenery. Hopefully he can go to Atletico and be ace for Simeone. Diaz does actually contribute and we can't change 3 or 4 forwards in one window.

If he kept giving him 20 minutes consistently every game in the last 3 months, he would have had enough fitness to start 90 minutes. Jota and Nunez are liabilities in most games. He could have given him another chance v Soton.

A lot of ‘ifs’ in there, the lad could barely finish half a training session not so long ago by all accounts. We didn’t strengthen in Jan, let’s see what the coming weeks bring.

But he's been on the bench in every game for the last how many games? He had a chance to bring him on and use him more even in 10 minute spells, he didn't. We got Jota and Darwin running around like headless chickens, doing fck all consistently in front of goal.

He's got two weeks before we play again, if he doesn't make an appearance again after that, and we persist with doing the same thing with our 9s who look useless, I don't expect things will get better if Mo isn't carrying us.

He’s not a centre forward, he’s played his best football wide right, which is where one of the best players in our history plays currently and is considered undroppable let alone taken off as sub. Gakpo being in form also hasn’t helped his chances. Did everything right today and clearly has the talent, but it hard yards pushing for a start at the team sitting top of the league by a f***ing mile and your main rival for a start having an incredible season.

Gakpo has been dealing with injuries since we played Everton, we've had loads of games since then. Diaz never played as a 9 until this year, but that didn't stop Slot from trying him there. Chiesa has at least done so previously in his career, even if he's played out wide more, however he's two footed, whether he plays on the right or the left, he's one of the only two footed forwards we have that is very comfortable with either one. He's played tons of football playing off the striker as well. There are more than enough positions in the final third he could have been used, that didn't involve replacing Mo. He could have played him out left against Soton, and rested Diaz who played tons of minutes in Paris, leading up to that and then did so again in midweek.

All of this. I don’t know if anybody knows Slot’s reason for not using him, but it seems to me that many on here don’t seem to know anything much about Chiesa and his abilities, where he can play and what he could bring to the team. Having seen him a fair few times for Juve last season, him being back and playing 30+ league games and almost back to the level before the big injury, his lack of minutes in a red shirt is a total mystery to me. I guess all managers, even the very best ones, both have weak spots for certain players and blind spots for others. Why is a totally crocked Jota and low on confidence Nunez getting games where Chiesa isn’t? Why has Endo only now started to get meaningful minutes now, although all of our starting midfielders have shown signs of being run to the ground. They who know the answer is clever boots.

Virgil could have told him in Dutch, in front of Nunez.

Deze jongen is echt slecht in voetbal
