He looks very good, admittedly, but it's an exception, not a pattern.

He's clearly developed better since then, if it's happening 2 years in a row, surely it's a pattern?  Not all players develop at the same rate and same time, his time at Atletico was also 4 years ago when he was 21. He played under a known defensive manager and his style of football is not best for all attacking players.
