🟢] NEW: While the admiration for Kvaratskhelia is understood to be long-standing at the club, a move for the 23-year-old has been suggested as unlikely by Anfield sources at this stage.

Could Elliot turn into a Mac Allister type? He can’t be that different physically and he is way younger. I bet he’s better than Alexis at the same age.

It's the reading of the game and positional sense, along with natural instincts that make it hard for players to make such a change. He could play there, but doubt he'd get close to Macca levels.

Still don't know what Elliot's best position is. I like him but have never been blown away by him, like some others have.

I reckon that's his best chance long-term, but it would be a massive project and not one I'd imagine we'd want to commit to when we're competing for trophies and have better current options for the deeper spots in midfield.

I would be happy for him to stay, but I feel like he'd only ever be a bit-part player for us and potentially stagnate here.

Think midfielders like MacAllister are just born with that kind of radar in their heads. Like Xabi Alonso probably played like a vastly experienced CM when he was 13.

Yeah! You are both almost definitely correct. I think Alonso was a cut above at from Mac at his age and Harvey at his.

On Macca though. I think he was knocking around Argentina as a number 10 and struggled at Brighton initially. I just think that having seen Harvey for the U21s and him having learned so much so young, it feels like a waste to pass it on before we reap it.

Like dating the geeky girl in the teen movies and dumping her just before she takes off her glasses and removes her hairpin to reveal she was Tyra Banks.
