Imagine signing a belter now when we're already flying. Remember when Diaz signed and it kicked us on a bit. More of that please.

I agree. Midfielder preferably.

Jammie Carragher recommends Kerkez:

Among Bournemouths standout players is Kerkez, who moved to the Vitality in 2023 from AZ in a deal worth around £15million.

The 21-year-old has proven his worth both defensively and offensively, with Carragher greatly impressed by the Hungarian international:

‘Kerkez has been a revelation at Bournemouth. The technical director who brought him to Bournemouth ,Richard Hughes, is now the sporting director at Liverpool.

‘Kerkez looks like a full back and he’s aggressive. He’s been superb since he came into the Premier League and is one to watch in the future whether he stays or moves on.’

The defender’s performances have caught the eye of rival clubs, with Liverpool and United making enquiries into his availability and Carragher believes his former side should move sooner rather than later.

‘Left back is definitely an area Liverpool should be looking to strengthen in January,’ the ex-England defender told Sky Sports.

‘Andy Robertson needs help, he’s a Liverpool legend, he’s won the lot, but the amount of games he’s played, playing in a Jurgen Klopp team, constantly just running up and down that wing for five or six years. He needs a little bit of help in that position.

‘Obviously Richard Hughes must know that player [Kerkez) really well and really likes him. I’m sure he’ll know his contract situation seeing as he probably did the contract for him.

‘Liverpool didn’t do too much business in the summer but that’s an area that they have to rectify in January rather than wait until the summer.’

Kerkez’s contract runs until 2028 and Bournemouth will surely resist temptation to sell him next month given the form that they are on, meaning a summer transfer is a more likely option.

However, the full-back himself fuelled speculation that a move to Anfield is possible after sending a message to Hungary teammate and Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai.

After scoring in the Reds’ 6-3 win at Tottenham on Sunday, the midfielder posted on Instagram: ‘Merry Xmas, Reds!’, to which Kerkez replied ‘Magic my brother.’

If we are going to sign a LB it seems like a choice between Fulhams Robinson or Kerkez, with Kerkez being favourite due to his links to Hughes. Not sure who is the better player.

I reckon we're as likely to buy a far cheaper option than Kerkez, unless he has a low release clause.

How will Hughes know what his release clause is?

I would guess we'd try to get £20m for Tsimi and then go after him. But unless he kicks up a fuss you'd imagine they'd want big money for him.

If Kerkez is good enough for us then Hughes can spot a player. There's a few at Bournemouth who look like they can make the step up tbf. Give him some money and the mandate to get some players in and he might surprise a few.

I don't think it's our style to spend big on a full back under these owners/Edwards. I think the only full backs we've bought are Robertson and Tsimikas. And Tsimikas was 2nd choice to another cheap player. I think they fancy themselves to find a full back for the manager to develop for cheap enough.

With Bournemouth so high up in the league I unfortunately cannot see them selling in January unless we offer silly money, which we wont.

That said, Kerzek and Zubimendi (or Baleba) in January would be some statement.

Isn't that just becausr we haven't needed to? Trent came through and Robbo has been amazing. Why woukd we have spent any serious money on full backs with those 2 in the team?

Liverpool currently have 15 non-home grown players in the squad; with one more joining in the summer; we have to be aware of this issue and adopt a one in, one out policy.
