Could Bacjetic be seen as CB and midfield cover?

Expand

No.

A player like that can’t be seen as cover for anything.

If he turns into anything decent then great - but you can’t rely on it happening

Kerkez, Frimpong, Guehi are all short arses for their position.

Smaller than the lads they are replacing.

We'll be buying Lisandro Martinez and Jimmy Krankie next.

He'll miss all of pre-season for sure, don't know when he comes back, but don't think he's good enough for us to depend on him.

There is no day of the year when that isn’t true.

I haven’t seen any real evidence that him and Pedro Chiravella aren’t the same person

I think this is a thing you know. The team is definitely getting smaller.

Funny how we all said last season that Elliott can't get a start because a midfield of him and Mac is too short.

Is Wirtz just good enough at footy to make all that irrelevant?

Yep

Elliott couldn’t get a start because slot didn’t rate him

PSG have just won the EC with two midgets in midfield [Vitinha and Neves]. Harvey has a variety of areas he doesn't excel in which prevent him from being a regular. He isn't tenacious enough on and off the ball ala Macca, so his height then becomes an even bigger issue, and while he's good technically, he isn't quick enough to make up for some of these things. That's why he can't be an effective 8 or a 10.

Wirtz, has elite numbers off the ball in pressing and defensively he's solid as well, and as a 10 his height is less of an issue to begin with.

For what it's worth, Elliott is 5'7 and Wirtz is supposedly 5'10.  Physicality is a weird one cos Gini was 'only' 5'9, but he was so built, and so strong on the ball, it didn't really matter.

I really like Elliott, but he's not quite quick enough to play out wide, and while he's good at closing down and pressing, he definitely lacks physicality in midfield, and isn't quite genius level of skillful enough to make up for that.

Sometimes players come to Liverpool and actually become better players. Guehi certainly seems like that type player, England international and starting CB in the Premier league for a few years. If the fee isn’t crazy, considering he’s only a year remaining, why not?
