A new thing I'm going to do - at least till I get bored of it - rate the ref from each prem game - see if there's any correlation...I'll keep it open for a week

EDIT - I'll close after 3 days - So Tuesday

One, possibly two offside goals (plus a dodgy goal for arsenal last night)

We need VAR in the premiership ASAP

which goals were offside? What was dodgy last night?

Rate the ref is a s*** idea FWIW. The fan's version of BT's s*** truck where the baldie c*** from greater Manchester tries to make the story of the game all about the referee. Please don't do this twice.

don't think they were offside myself. If those were goals we scored we'd be defending them being awarded.

They were certainly not egregious

Last one was deffo off.

Last one was deffo off.

I thought both were off. But on watching replays I think they were both onside.

I don't think the linesman got them right for the right reasons though. Their second was only onside under real slow mo scrutiny. And their third only because the ball was played backwards and deflected off Mingo. I don't think the linesman could see either, but gave benefit of the doubt.

yeah - I've got no grumbles about them. Not like someone was 3yds off & it was a total f***up by the ref/lino. More angry at our defending.

And if people don't want a rate the ref (ratemypoo) then I won't bother.

I don't want to rate the f***ing ref. Why the f*** are you always banging on about f***ing refs. It's like you've read in a "How to be a soccer fan" manual that it's something football fans do.

was interested to see whether as the season progresses there's a correlation between certain ref's scores by individual, result etc

Yea my first thought was correlation between result and the ref's score too. Seems like most people have given a fair-ish rating though, thought it would be much worse.

alright, won't bother.

The direction the ball travelled in is irrelevant to an offside decision - you are on or offside at the point the ball is played and by that he was offside; but it was a close call and I would blame the linesman for not giving it less than I would blame our defence collectively for not dealing with the last 3 phases of Watford attacks effectively.

When did this law change?

It hasnt.

If you are behind the ball you can't be offside. People are assuming that playing it backwards implies you were behind the ball. It's likely that that is true but you can run from an offside position to play a ball that has gone backwards and still be offside.
