RP Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I was always a big fan of 'Dubai' (i.e. Sheikh Makhtoum) buying us. And I was led to believe that it was going to happen. Finally today I heard the full story. Moores, Parry and their Rep went out to Dubai to discuss final details. Everything was based on it all being kept very quiet, Unfortunately, Neil Mellor scored late on (v Arsenal), David Moores (pissed in a bar) celebrated and decided to tell everyone within earshot who he was and why he was there. The royal family over there have eyes and ears everywhere. The meeting, scheduled for the following day, was cancelled,

RP Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 I may have confused the identity of the scorer. But I don't think so - I'm sure it was Mellor v Arsenal, but I have been known to merge two separate stories before
RP Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) I'll ask him - I'm sitting next to the guy at dinner He also had an interesting story about Tony Pulis, but I'll double check the details before relaying it Edited May 22, 2017 by RP
cymrococh Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 So is the story Parry tells about the steel complete b*llocks then?
RP Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 So is the story Parry tells about the steel complete b*llocks then?Surely not.
New York Red Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Good work Agent RP. Now can you get to the bottom of a few others? 1. Did Gus Poyet really sh*t on the changing room floor?2. Beardsley? Really?3. Carra's c**k?
cymrococh Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Surely not.Either way, they obviously didn't want us that much. f*** em.
New York Red Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 They liked getting the cheap stadium. That much I do know for sure.
Hassony Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 They liked getting the cheap stadium. That much I do know for sure.Thank god we went for the Americans in that case
cymrococh Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 They liked getting the cheap stadium. That much I do know for sure. Not enough to get over something absolutely meaningless.
RP Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 What was "absolutely meaningless"? Moores' fundamental failiure to respect the express wishes of a prospective buyer/total lack of respect?
anfield Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) It'll make it all the more sweeter when we win trophies without oil moneyIt'll make it all the more sweeter when we win trophies without oil money So true I had to say it twice. Love clubs like atletico Madrid and borussia Dortmund. We are not going to be all conquering heroes like the 70s and 80s. Edited May 22, 2017 by anfield
Ed the Wool Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 So is the story Parry tells about the steel complete b*llocks then?Parry sort of ties up in that interview he did on TAW iirc. He said that they 'stopped answering their calls' and they'd agreed to stump up some cash but never did. He didn't mention this as the reason why though. You can see why.
muleskinner Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 They were still trying to buy the club in 2008/9 weren't they? That woman stating confidently that they would own it eventually and that Tom hicks knew it.
cymrococh Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 (edited) What was "absolutely meaningless"? Moores' fundamental failiure to respect the express wishes of a prospective buyer/total lack of respect? If they were put off by some drunken boasting then they obviously didn't really want to buy us. This is a several hundred mm pound deal, Moores' actions on one night in some bar in Dubai shouldn't ultimately have any influence. Edited May 23, 2017 by cymrococh
