Birth of a legend 1922 - Billy Liddell was born in Townhill, Dunfermline. He joined the reds in July 1938 while still only sixteen, signing as an amateur from Lochgelly Violet for £200 and turning professional nine months later. He left the club in 1961, having struck 228 times in 534 games. His only club honour was the League title in 1947, although he also played in the FA Cup Final three years later.
