Breaking news on BBC.

72 years old.

Always seemed a nice chap.  I'm sure The Sun will write lovely things about him now.

Met him at an event about 18 months ago - lovely fella and so effusive about Bob and Kenny. Was aware that his teams played a completely different style but loved our football. RIP

Some testimony from a Villa fan - and there are dozens like it.

" I had some contact with him. Once at the age of about seven. I was standing on my seat in The Trinity Road end when a wayward clearance from a Villa player (could have been Derek Mountfield) cleared the pitch and hit me smack in the face knocking me backwards over several rows of seats. What I didn't realise in the haze that followed was that Graham Taylor had seen this from the dugout and sent a steward up to get my name and address. A few days later I was sent a whole load of Villa goodies in the post by him, signed by the first team."

Sad. Always seemed a nice and knowledgeable bloke. Remember him saying nice things about us after his Watford team won at Anfield.

The Watford stuff is the stuff of legend. The way he handled that documentary, the maker said he could have torpedoed it at any point but wouldn't as it was the truth, is testament to a decent and proper football man.

RIP.

very unlucky to manage england at a time of scant playing resources with his only good player injured

Yep the quality of English football at the time was dogs***. His time in charge needs a bit of a retrospective with that in mind.

f*** england and f*** the way the papers talked about him around that. remember the man who watford fans adore like we adore bill and bob, not the tabloid s***e version.

This is also true.

Seemed like a really nice bloke, always liked him. Opinions around the game seem to support that, he was hugely popular. David Pleat was on the radio and said it was McKenzie behind the nasty stuff - no surprises there.

RIP Graham Taylor.

Not too sure I agree. He took on a team that had just reached the WC semi and there was a good crop of players to work with. Does not however diminish his achievements at Watford and Villa.

May he RIP.

Terrible news really. Seemed like a lovely fellow from all accounts. Weird as I was literally talking about him (and where he was currently) a couple of days ago.

Yet another reason to bin off not only The S*n,but all other gutter press.

A very good club manager.

It turns my stomach to hear media referring to him as "a true gentleman" this morning.

The hypocritical little cnts. Think back to how disgracefully they treated him when it was important ... you know, he was actually alive and walking this earth. Then, he was a turnip ... and worse. Now he's passed, he's "a true gentleman". Fck off.
