towards a dystopian society

 

based on an episode of Black Mirror, what would happen if there was a function for instantly rating a post as soon as you read it - say from 1 to 10?

with the accompanying 'internal poster rematriculation function' (the results of which are published in real time on a league table and also feature as an overall rating alongside the poster's name) we would immediately be able to ascertain the poster's popularity

 

and if this is a good forum with good, sensible posters on it, a lot could be learned. Obviously there would need to be an element of competition, such as an annual award (medals and cash prizes) because that would encourage people to think carefully about the quality of their posts

 

there are other, external applications of course

 

 

anyway, I'm not saying I support the idea, just thinking out loud

 

a 'what if?' scenario, if you like - just like in that film 'IF'
