Important question about amusement arcades

This is bugging the hell out of me

 

Why do amusement arcades? (the ones that just have fruit machines in them) also sell tat at ridiculous prices?

 

E.g. Little ceramic dogs, 3 inches high, for £14.99

Or really s*** dolls for £30

 

Who in their right minds would buy this crap in any circumstance but particularly as part of a visit to an arcade?

 

Have googled it but no joy

 

I have two half-arsed hypotheses btw but I don't want to be ridiculed
