usualsuspect Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 We have evolved into a wonderful, entertaining masterpiece when in possession, particularly in the opponent's third. Yes, we don't quite have the most reliable of consistency levels but we are very effective on the front foot. One thing we seem to overdo is the proverbial attraction to the ball leaving acres of space at our far posts. Today's Swansea goal, Spurs equaliser as examples. Quite often we have found either Clyne, Moreno or recently Milner marooned with the CDs pulled away. This could well be a relatively common problem in the Premiership defences due to a high propensity to cross balls into the box, but I always get the feeling we appear affected by this more than most. How do we fix it? Perhaps nurturing the Lovren Matip partnership will yield this balance after the Skrtel era? Is it the lack of a mobile DM who can plug these spaces? Would be interested in some thoughts on this. You have to think Klopp will sort this out as I seem to recall Borrusia D had a reasonable defensive record.
