Need to buy New laptop

My old laptop of 7 years finally died. Went to buy a new one and got lost.

 

I need it primarily for downloading, occasionally excel and usually photo stuff.

 

Needs to be cheap and robust, but all the different processors, ram and hard drives are throwing me.

 

Any tips? Brands? New or refurb? Online or store?
