I have just watched the 90min documentary on the LFC TV channel. It brought back a lot of good memories, especially the cup run...some great games and nights.

From watching it though, Bruce doesn't come across well, he made some howlers that season which could of cost us a lot. I always think back of the Man City game in '81 of him letting us down and then we win the league, but 85-86 he made more mistakes than a top keeper should have.

It's also shows how much the FA Cup final meant to everyone back then, it's sad the way it's no longer such a big game for anyone.

That was the deal with Bruce though. The net effect was still positive.

Never forgotten giving the league up on Feb when the Blues won at Anfield then realising, as the score from Oxford was being relayed over the radio, that the league was back in our own hands to win and could barely believe it.

If I remember back that far, didn't Brucie have an injury in that Everton game, be why he messed up Ratcliffes shot

Yep, It was the first year I started going to every game, and the night they lost at Oxford was immense. I remember being kept in at the Bridge until 6 after we won the league for our safety, but none of us cared!

I didn't know that, he did play with a broken wrist for a few games, but couldn't tell you what year!

Was 15 back then, only time I have had a fight at a football match, got dragged back by some old fella, it was like the parting of the red sea at the end

Quite a scrap in The Kop at the end of that game, I seem to remember.

On the left hand side (as you stood on it) where the Bluenoses congregated back then.

We stood in our usual place in the middle of them, it was f***ing horrible both times they scored. Loads of trouble at the end of the match, I recall 3 or 4 coppers trying to restore some kind of order, argy bargy walking down to County Road to get the bus home.

Just before half time in the 0-5 was the worst I was in, in the park end corner of the paddock below the bullens as it was, funny enough when the whistle went it was all alright again and everyone was bezzies?

Ones on the Kop were mostly them rock hard plastic coke bottles going back and forth across a cleared space as I recall.

After the Everton defeat in February, our League run-in form was 11 wins and 1 draw, 32F 4A. A couple of 5-0 and a 6-0 in there. Good Days indeed. The Blues couldn't stand the pressure and buckled at Oxford to let us in.

Plus an FA Cup run of course and, soon after the Everton game, managing to get knocked out of the LC in a 2-leg SF against QPR, mainly due to conceding 2 oggies and missing a pen (Jan Molby! Seriously!) in the Anfield leg for 2-2.

Deffo. And that finish against Spurs in the 90th minute was as good as anything you'll see.

I was there

was at everything

after the Chelsea game I took the 28 bus home and sat down for a think

after the cup final I went home, waded in to 24 lagers and hit the town
