Factory Farming

I had the misfortune of having to look around an abattoir in the course of work towards the end of last year.

 

The blood and guts didn't concern me so much as it was to be expected, but the poor screaming pigs did. Not that they were being mistreated or anything by industry standards. Just that the whole thing seemed wrong, killing and processing sentient living creatures on such a huge industrial scale.

 

Since that I've given up eating red meat, although I do stil eat free range chicken and fish. I know this is probably only part way to what I should do, but as a lifetime eater of meat it's hard for me to give everything up. After that experience though stopping eating red meat has been surprisingly easy.

 

Does anyone else have any views on factory farming?

 

Do we have any vegetarians?
