slapnuts Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Hi, A woman I work with has just been told that unless she resigns today she is going to be sacked. She is around 60 and very worried about it. HR's reasoning is that the woman has asked for progression in the company, HR said their is no progression for her, which is b******s as anyone could leave a job at anytime and she could apply for it. The real reason is that she was booked to do some work abroad and the company booked the flights etc, but then she refused to go. She did give a weeks notice to say she wasnt going so they could have got someone else to do it. Also nothing about travelling abroad is in her job description and it wasn't mentioned in her interview. I was told last week that there was progression in the company coming up so they are just lying to her. HR didn't inform her that the meeting was formal, didn't tell her what the meeting was about (they said it was a work review) and did not afford her any representation. I would say she needs to open up a grievance towards HR for how they have handled this to bide her some time to get it sorted and then get advice from a solicitor and ACAS. Then if it cant be sorted out with her keeping her job she needs to go down the unfair/constructive dismissal route. She is a nice woman and its s***e what they have done to her this morning, any advice would be appreciated. Cheers
