Chewie Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Right. That's that done then. 38 priorities. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Damian_de Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Would not be surprised to see a new left back starting first game of the season* ** *Improved since the little break in Tenerife, but not sure he will be forgiven the second half there **Yes, I know that a left back doesn't lose you the UEFA Cup final on his own
redjersey Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Yep, f*** it, fresh start in August. No excuses, no diversions.
Andy-oh-six Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 It's pretty s*** being without European football. Really s*** for attracting players (and retaining them). It will be interesting to see how the summer goes. We can go full tilt for the league though with no excuses. Klopp will have had a pre season too.
John Nada Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 We don't need that many playersIdeally 4 starters. Goalkeeper, LB, midfielder and Goetze or someone of his ilk, we desperately need goals from midfield.
Cam Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Hope Klopp has got his signings lined up, summer plans sorted and next season's tactics cemented. A defeat like this hits & hurts. Rodgers never recovered after the title challenge collapse.
dorgie Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Other than Clyne, Lovren, Can, Coutinho & Sturridge from tonight's starting line up, the others are far too flaky far too often and we really wouldn't miss any of them if they were shipped out. We can't afford to wait every 5 games or so before we see something really good from the likes of Lallana & Firmino.

Hassony Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Was Coutinho even playing tonight?Yes he was playing, yes he was poor, he also happens to be our best player alongside sturridge Are you one of these idiots on twitter who wants to sell him now based on tonight?
Stevie Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 We can't afford to wait every 5 games or so before we see something really good from the likes of Lallana & Firmino.I thought Firmino did ok tonight. He didn't really have any support for most of the game so struggled a bit as he was isolated. It was only him and Sturridge who seemed to work out that having a big fat losers medal around your neck isn't really cool too.
Chewie Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 I think its about being really clear now and really ruthless. The objective is to win this league. The most effective way to do that is to be very organised and score loads. We need brains, power, pace and goals. We also need consistency of performance AND availability. Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho is one too many of a tippy tappy type player. Arsenal are the prime example of a side that have tried this with better players and failed. This league needs bullied and on the whole I'd only have one of them at a time in a team. Especially if Gotze comes in. I want klopp to be absolutely ruthless now. I don't doubt he will be.

You build the team around these players and ensure other players are able to get them in the game.

Going to be an interesting summer.Come 1st September we'll know which direction we're heading in. Really looking forward seeing a Klopp team after a Klopp full preseason.
Lark Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Kid from leicester, young matip, kid called grujic, kid called zielinksi. Proven winners, one and all. I hope to f*** they are the stocking fillers. And not the main presents.
Case Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Well in for starting this thread, Chewie. It's obvious where we need strengthening, so I won't rehash all that. I think though that the lack of CL footy won't so much impact who we will sign (though it will inevitably have SOME impact) as much as those who will now leave. The squad won't need to be anywhere near as big as if we'd won tonight. I can see 'some' of Allen, Lucas, Hendo, Lallana, maybe even Coutinho and Sturridge as 'possible' outs now as well as the certainties (Skrtel, Benteke, Bali, Sakho a few more). In other words there may be a couple of departures that would definitely not have happened if we'd won tonight.

downunder Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Yes he was playing, yes he was poor, he also happens to be our best player alongside sturridge Are you one of these idiots on twitter who wants to sell him now based on tonight? I don't want to sell him, but you know my views of him. He need to do more to be as good as many keep telling us he is. He is not consistent enough, sadly.

The Hitman Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Looking forward to the signings in the summer and a new start. We've got some very good players we can build around and one key competition to focus on.Onwards and upwards.
D.Boon Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Go and get someone who consistantly influences games from the middle. Phil, Firminho and Lallana can all take notes.
