Tommok Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Mate of mine is renting a flat with an AST and it's due to expire soon. He's been offered a new one (at a higher rent obviously) but he wants to move his girlfriend in. All the rent will be payable by him directly to his landlord (with his girlfriend then paying him subsequently via direct debit) - does he have to inform the landlord she's moving in? He's obviously worried the landlord will try and charge even more rent if there's two of them. The landlord doesn't pay for any of the utilities other than the hot water and heating which is bundled in with the service charge he pays and is not based on usage, so the landlord won't be paying any extra for 2 people living there. Cheers in advance.
