The pitches have never looked as in great nick as they do now. I know that agronomic practices are light years better than they were twenty or even ten years ago. But these pitches are all absolutely pristine. It doesn't seem to matter who the team is. I can remember a few decades ago that they were all massive mud baths particularly in the goalmouths. I can even remember in the last ten years at Stamford Bridge when it seemed to be a whole pitch of a mud and sand mix.

Are they totally grass now or are they some kind of turf hybrid?

Ours is poor (well, it looks great compared to pitches of yesteryear but by today's standards). It had a ten-year lifespan but was due to be replaced five or six years back. I haven't decided who to blame for this - Hicks & Gillett, Ayre or Hodgson.

Feck it, I'm blaming Moreno.
