I woke up with Andriy Voronin on my mind this morning for no reason that I can think of.  My missus does not look like him, so that couldn't be it, and last night I watched a Will Smith movie just before going to bed, so that's unlikely as well.

So I found out two things about him which surprised me. Voronin, not Smith.

1) He scored over 20 (second division) League goals for Mainz, under Jurgen Klopp and was their top scorer three years in a row.  UEFA.com described him as "one of the most sought-after talents in Germany.

2) In 2008, while with us, he was awarded a Ukranian Order 3 Bravery Degree.  To whit ..

"Before August, 1996, personal bravery had been honoured with Awards of the President of Ukraine For Courage: the Star For Courage and the Cross For Courage instituted on April 29, 1995. On August 21, 1996, they were transformed into three classes of the Order For Courage. Recipients of Awards of the President of Ukraine such as the Star for Courage and the Cross For Courage are considered to be equal to the recipients of the Order For Courage and they are recognised as holders of the Order For Courage retaining the right to wear decorations that have been granted. Granting the Star For Courage and the Cross For Courage was discontinued following the institution of the Order For Courage."

This surprised me as I remember him as being a total and utter s***house.

Tomorrow, I am going to dig out some little known facts, and believe me they WILL be facts, about more past players who we loved and lost.

I look forward to other forumites contributions, as long as they are as bored at work as I am.

Nicolay Metchev now presents a TV show on Bulgarian television where he alternately meets people called Geoff, and chefs.

Top fact aside, what has this got to do with LFC, exactly?

Peter Beardsley was on course to be a Michelin standard chef until a virus damaged his tastebuds disabling him of the ability to differentiate between sweet and sour.

Ronnie Rosenthal's so called miss was in fact deliberate. A murderous gang of OAPs were actually holding his great Aunt hostage and wanted revenge in the form of humiliation. His great Aunt, by winning every crochet competition for the last two decades, was infuriating her elderly group so much that the only piece of mind they felt achievable would be to associate her family name with embarrassment. Since then, however, reclaimed footage of Ronnies miss has been reviewed and analised by specialists who confirm that during the actual match the ball crossed the line. On hearing this (and seeing the incredible smugness on the great Aunt's face), the entire group threw themselves onto their needles. A joint rememberance service is due next week, where Ronnie himself will be 'behind the bar'.

Albert Muggins, an unused substitute former Liverpool reserve team goalkeeper is buried in Stanley Leisures garden. His final resting place was to be the gardens centrepiece but he was instead placed behind a raised bed as a result of a budget shortfall.
