Yes yes all footballers are a bunch of overpaid selfish w***ers.

But does anyone actually LIKE any of our players? Maybe its because I'm older now but even back in Ged and Rafa's day there were a few you felt you "connected" with or that seemed good fun and had something about them.

At best I'm lukewarm to the best of the current crop.

No loyalty on either side of the game. Owners and players in it for themselves with the fans in the middle.

It has been a long time since I felt a connection with players. I still love the club, but it needs a massive remodel.

Sure but there must be some interesting characters out there - as someone mentioned, a Bellamy, a Kuyt etc. Even Sami, Xabi, et al. Of course, Gerrard, Carra...

Beyond the actual quality of the player, who is there like that in our squad who gets you really fired up or caring?

Maybe it goes back to none of our players really having any balls, but is it intertwined?

No, not really. I like to think that guys like Lucas would be nice to have a beer with.

Not too many otherwise.

Yea, he's probably one of the few - but even with him, you need support around him and a variety of personalities. He shouldn't be the main star and the most likeable just because he's "Lucas".

I have a connection with our cup side - it feels natural, I am willing them to overcome and prove themselves - that entire team that played Leicester can go f*** themselves - I love Jurgens passion and thank God for him as if it were still Brendan at the helm of this I would have binned the lot

Coutinho and Lucas are the two I really get on with and have had genuine conversations with. Both engage in conversations naturally and are very laid back.. Not really met a player I felt was stuck up and have met most of current team.

Suarez was even laid back and approached me and chatted away about me and my life and his life..

Aside from Lucas and Coutinho I wouldn't be too gutted if the rest pissed off though and got replaced.

I'd rather players showed a strong and passionate personality on the pitch and they are showing anything but that and because of that they are becoming easy to dislike..

Barnesy_10 can answer this best i would think.

In July I got to 'meet' them all pretty quickly, Lucas, Lallana, Toure and Ings were the most chatty.

Did Lallana try to force you to interview him?

Out of the current playing squad the two guys I like personality wise are Kolo and Ings, I like Coutinho as he seems down to earth and he's also my favourite player. I like Lucas the bloke but I'm not a huge fan as a player.

And Klopp of course of the non playing staff. He's just a fantastic bloke, absolutely love him.

Haha, Lallana was talking abut having been at the club for a year he realised how privileged he was to be part of it.

Signing a squad full of nasty horrible c**** who win would be preferable.

I mentioned the other day that I saw them on Hope St before the West Ham game out for a pre match stroll. Now ok there was a bit of a wind blowing up Upper Duke St as they came around the corner but they were like those hen-peck addled emporer penguins you see, or a primary school class going the park for a special treat, just glad nobody went past walking a puppy or they'd have had to delay kick off

Surprised they didn't have hi viz tabards on.

I'd be almost happy to have Sinisa Mijhailovic at the moment

From the current squadi like Lucas and Skrtel. Sakho seems like a good guy,

From the recent past, Reina and Garcia

One of our biggest problem at the moment though is that we don't have any big personalities (apart from Klopp)

Think this squad would have benefited a lot from having people like Reina, Carragher and Suarez, just look at our choices for captain, hendo, Milner and Lucas, not that inspiring is it

Yeah forgot about Sakho - like him too.

You are absolutely right about the personality - this team is massively lacking in that respect.

I'm worried about Henderson - that heel seems like a major issue. He's been absolutely awful since he's come back and it's clearly the injury that is taking a lot out of his game.

Without the energy he's not an inspiring captain.

Kolo looks a laugh. But that's it. No personalities, no leaders, no fight, no ambition.

Rafa always said the most important aspect of a player is his (footballing) intelligence. We have none, bar perhaps Allen, who meet that criteria.

And who's your favourite player? A bit childish perhaps but there's no one stand-out name. No cult heroes. No locals ('cept Flanagan). No nutters. No one you get excited by on the walk up to the ground. Just a bunch of identikit fashion department mannequins.

That's because we aren't successful, if we win a few things they'll be much more appealing.

Sure, winning makes everything better. But there's definitely a distinct lack of "killers" in this squad. I don't see many players that would do anything for a win like Suarez, Mascherano, Xabi, et al. Maybe Lucas, but that's it.

Xabi is a fantastic gifted footballer but he's not do or die win at all costs, he doesn't need to be. There is a difference.
