Following on from the buying a house discussion. The story is as follows ( it is about 7-8 months ago now)

I approached lender A and applied for a mortgage, I asked them what about my student loans, to which they responded "Don't worry about your student loans we do not count them in our assessment of you, we will see you next week for a full interview with one of our team"

I then visited lender A and gave all my finance information, bank statements etc, I asked them the very same question about my student loans, and they responded with the following "Don't worry about your student loans we do not count them in our assessment of you, we are ready to proceed and will instruct the surveyors shortly"

I then contacted lender A a week later having not heard anything, I was then informed I was declined by the underwriters because of my student loans and they would lend me £20k less than what I needed.

So my questions are as follows

1. Can I sue lender A?

2. Can I sue someone else for mis-selling me student loans, as I was led to believe this wasn't taken into account when applying for a mortgage?
