House selling question

We are pretty close to exchange of contracts on our houes but the buyers for ours have come back to us and asked us to drop the price - I thnk they are genuine in their reasons for doing so and they are not just trying it on - but if we were even just to meet them half way it would take money out of our repair and renovation fund for our new property, and also feels a wee bit galling given that we had another offer for the same original price which we rejected in favour of theirs.

 

Anybody got any (sensible) advice on how to proceed?
