My other half (against advice) went to work at a beauty parlour as she's trained in various treatments.

I say against advice as the owner came across as an unprofessional mentalist and only referred to vague conditions of work and 'didn't do contracts.'

Anyway, after going ok for a few weeks the owner started to demand she work long hours despite only getting paid for each customer visit - so even on quiet days she could be sitting there for hours doing menial work in the shop despite not earning a thing. Obviously this couldn't continue (with the owner also controlling prices, keeping them artificially low and then taking a commission) so she left - amicably.

The owner however then turned and got incredibly petty - withholding money owed due to 'wear and tear' on a treatment table (it's less than a month old and hasn't got a mark on it...).

I spoke to the owner's business partner (as she's a halfwit) and he said they fully intended to pay - but since then it's been a line of excuses (lost wallet, couldn't get to the bank today...) and I've lost patience.

Having spoken to my work legal team, there's a case for employment under 'mutual obligation' (i.e. even without the terms of a contract she was being treated as an employee and entitled to those rights and salary, rather than being a contractor) as well as the fact they've offered in writing to pay up but haven't. In other words they are bang to rights.

Anyone got any further advice before I go legal... ACAS ect ect. It's a trivial amount for this bother but I'm f***ed if I'm letting anyone take liberties.
