Lovren, Matip, Klavan and.......? Sakho, who we tried to bomb out on loan and won't be featuring anytime soon for the first team? Who else?

Gomez who Klopp apparently rates a lot.

 

And yeah, Sakho who also did really well for us in periods last season and is obviously too good to be 4th choice or worse.

 

I don't remember the last time we had such quality sitting on the bench at centre back to be honest.

Based on what? That he has sad some nice stuff about him? He says nice stuff about loads of people. The lad basically hasn't kicked a ball for a year, is injured again and I doubt Klopp had seen much of him before he came here.

 

He might turn out to be a brilliant player but you can understand the anxieties around having to rely on him.

 

And whether Sakho is too good to be fourth choice isn't really the point. He isn't going to be playing anytime soon.

Bit disingenuous to call 'Lucas as 4th choice cb' as a sign of lacking depth. We have five other centrebacks that no one can really be unhappy about getting gametime. If Lucas is ahead of any of them, it's because he's doing really well.

I know some are gutted we didn't buy more but I'm glad we reduced the size of the squad. Lots of average bloat. I much prefer a tight 18-20 man squad with 8-10 kids who can step in and cover.

And yet we have sakho if we need him. He is not staying for the wage packet either. And Klopp rates gomez enough that he doesn't want another centreback in to block his path.

 

This is like those who think three strikers+Firmino is too little when we play with one up front.

 

Maybe the first XI quality can be improved, but our depth is absolutely fine.

Stewart (i know he's not really a kid), Ojo, Brannagan and Maybe even Woodburn will be used this season.
