Has anyone ever done this ?

I was planning to do it for 4-6 months, I like the idea of caring for others and it's really vital work. One week in and I'm done in. They have you on a zero hour contract, going from home to home with no chance of breaks, so you start at 7am and work right through. You are up to your eyes in incontinence, and administering medication. It doesn't seem right to me, I am not the most resilient worker

I don't know how people do it. All of the careers I've spoken to say it's the worst job, they are exhausted and would probably leave if they had better paid options. the company, a registered charity, just bids the lowest to get more care contracts.

I was actually pretty good at it, I'm good at engaging with people, you know not everyone can keep things light and friendly, while they are showering someone with dementia, or cleaning the a*** of some poor fella who can't move after a stroke. I wanted to keep with it but it's exhausting and for £7 an hour I just can't see why I would.

It's certainly given me a new perspective on a type of work I didn't know much about before. Probably the worst job I've ever done, not for the people and their family's, just the way it's run under time and money pressure.
