Yeah, sad that.

Brings back many memories of that ferocious rivalry we had with them during the 80's. They were good, very good - although not quite as good as us, like.

Yeah, sad, 69 isn't really that old.

Very much intertwined with memories of growing up for me - all-Merseyside Cup Finals, battling it out for the League with them.

69 s***? Did he latterly have a problem with booze?

RIP

Apparently not just latterly.

Had been a bit of an open secret fr more than 20 years.

Sad.

When I was a young kid I watched him play in the cup final for Preston aged just 17, he was a really good player and a great manager too. RIP.

RIP Howard Kendall. Helped make Merseyside the UK Capital of Football.

** Pete Wylie has just RTd a picture of an U-13 Football team featuring Howard Kendall - and Bryan Ferry. Genuinely wierded me out, that.

There was a nice anecdote from someone on Saturday, how, as a young journo, he had got very drunk in Kendall's company one time and been emboldened to take on a bet he couldn't really afford. He lost, and paid up, but Kendall never cashed the cheque.
