Anybody thinking of jacking the match in?

Good article this by a fella who gave up going to the match and now follows Marine.

A lot of what he says struck a chord with me. I've been thinking about calling it a day since H&G, Rafa's sacking and Hodgson.

The simple joy of watching Suarez play put that off for a while but I'm seriously considering it again.

I may lend my season ticket to my sister's fella next season and see how I cope!

I don't have complete faith in FSG that they are here for success on the pitch.

I know a few long term match goers who are feeling the same way.

Anybody else feeling similar thoughts?

Thought about it for a long time.

It's not the same, and I doubt it ever will be.

The sacking of Rafa, and then Kenny, in both instances by non-footballing men for non-footballing reasons, pushed me close.

I think I'm hanging on to see us win the League again. Although I accept that this may take some time!

I think loads will jack it when we next win the League.

Agree entirely ... up to the last sentence.

I reckon no-one will jack it in when we win the league again.

are you for real?

the only reason people want to jack it in now is because we're s***

when we nearly won the league even the boozers round the ground were at capacity during the match, never mind the ground

The only reason I have season tickets this year is because a mate has all but jacked it in.

In his own words "I just can't be arsed with it anymore".

Have to say, I'm more aware of the problems associated with going to the game these days but I still get a bit giddy going to Anfield and I've been a semi-regular attendee over the years.

Maybe this season will crush my spirit once and for all.

I might try European aways again this year ... life was alright when I did that before.

Domestic aways now are pretty depressing ... good to have a few beers with a few mates, but the games are largely depressing. And they used to be the most fun.

Last away I did (chelsea) my friend got called a chink and was basically assaulted by a group of ours for politely disagreeing with a remark about Raheem Sterling.

After it had settled down he was told he "shouldn't have played the race card" (telling the aggressors that they were racist c*nts).

It's put me off.

Good piece that.

Unfortunately due to my own football managing commitments, I haven't been upto Annie since Carra's testimonial, but watching and listening to the fans, you notice the difference.

Our atmosphere is Schite, I'd go so far as Palaces home fans are the best in the league, they're at it for the whole game.

I know our atmosphere wasn't full on sometimes back in the good old days, but these few years, it's a pale shadow of what it was.

As I said in another thread, it's been a gradual dumbing down of our once great club.

Agree with everything said but it's also a wider issue across English football.

The cost, the way fans are treated, inconvenient kick off times, every game on TV.

Take Arsenal away for example, £64 for a Monday night game. £60+ on the train to get there. It's no surprise people are jacking it in.

How is possible that I can fly to Germany, get a place to stay and a ticket to the match for less than Arsenal away?

The atmosphere will never get back to what it was. The young people who provide the atmosphere in other countries and did in the past will never get on the Kop due to the lack of tickets and cost.

I know quite a few who've said that they're hanging on to see us win the League again, and then they'll bow out.

They're either deluded or morons then.

Anyone who packs it in will soon be back when we're good again. Obviously.

I've always shared my ST with my cousin - put playing before watching whilst I still could, thinking plenty of time to go to the match when you are older. Now I'm older and have jacked the footy in I live a bit further out, so I'm still selective about games and go to about half of them. I must admit I'm just as happy to watch some of the games on the TV, mostly because of the atmosphere. I miss those European nights at Anfield really badly - if I didn't have a family I'd go to aways for the craic.

Think I'm going to try and move my season ticket next year and see how that goes. I'm surrounded by some proper nobheads who are ruining the games now. The usual abuse to our players has been turned up a notch this season and there was some racist stuff chucked in last match. Shame, as the seat is a belter.

They're neither, mate. They're sick of being ripped off to ever more extortionate degrees to watch a bunch of players who don't give a toss and owned by people who seem desperate to turn us into a franchise.

And your second sentence kind of misses the point doesn't it? We're talking about people who will quit once we've got back to the top, not "when we're good again".

The Mancs used to have a season ticket waiting list that ran to tens of thousands. There's no waiting list there now. There's a reason for that.

We have a big season ticket waiting list though don't we?

Palace is a great atmosphere but it's like that because they're just happy to be there. The expectation level is low, there's no pressure.

Anfield is a cathedral of tension and frustration.

The things you'd miss out on though, seeing as this club serves up magic you'd wait a lifetime for elsewhere. What he says about Marine's run rivalling Istanbul won't stand up next time he is on holiday and he gets the chance to say he was there and as great as all the players and teams were that we shared that little cameo from the Uruguayan was performance art, a masterpiece that is still hard to take in. Being in the ground when he hit that volley against the post or ran away and away from Everton was seeing things that hadn't been done before with a footy.

Buy the bitey tw*t back I say. That'd be worth selling our a*** to every c*nt on wall St for. Not one and a half million miserable quid.

It's all bulls***. No one will "jack it in". Football rouses these type of exaggerated thoughts.

Lotsa fans "jack it in" on Weekends and are gagging for it by Friday!
