Hasn't even got his own thread.

Looks good doesn't he? Wobbled a bit back end of the first half but recovered well. Unfortunately I think Moreno would have been murdered by Walters.

He played really well yesterday, I think due to his inexperience he looked to stay tight to Walters and Walters then used this on a number of times by drawing him out a bit, they would then play the ball over them into the space that was left, but he still dealt really well with the situation.

Debut against a really knarly streetwise player wide attacker, was going to be difficult, he should be really pleased with himself, very good performance.

Did he not even get a welcome thread? Suppose most people seen him as one for the future. Looks good though a bit inexperienced, but he would do at 18. Could have a big future

we basically played an 18 year old out of position on his debut away at Stoke. Against meat head Walters. So considering that he's done alright.

Did really well - he's another one who adds more physical presence and he looks a very solid defender.

My key question with him is how much he can offer going forward playing on his wrong side, but I suppose he did have an assist yesterday! I'd replace him with Moreno for the easier home games when we want more width and for the full backs to push on, but use Gomez when we need to be tighter and stronger. I'd also be giving him games at CB in the Carling Cup because I think his future is there, and he is a massive prospect.

Looks to have the mixture of ability and temperament to go a long way in the game.

He's clearly a talented kid, with a good mentality. A good signing.

Says a lot for Moreno that an 18 year old who isn't a left back is preferred to him.

Class act. I thought he was a bit shaky at times yesterday and didn't really look to get forward but there are games there for him this season.

I think he can be used as a defensive left back and Moreno as attacking one. Can see Moreno coming in for Bournemouth

Pretty much yeah. Got harshly booked too.

Good to see all of the players making a point to congratulate him at the end.

Not just 18, but has stepped up a division and he wasn't even a regular starter for Charlton

Posted this previously but as he's got his own thread...

Work with a Charlton STH who goes to the aways as well & he was distraught to be losing him. Said we were getting him for a steal.

I quibbled & said "well we have paid x million (whatever it was)" & he said if they'd been able to keep him for another season they would have gotten 3 times what we paid, he thought he was nailed on for Chelsea or Arsenal.

Some games whoever he was marking basically gave up as they couldn't get past him for pace or power. Plays like a guy with 10 years experience under his belt already.

Said even at 17/18 he was by far their best player & a nice grounded lad as well apparently.

Did say when I posted first time that "it's only the Championship" but as per the post above he handled one of the PL's most experienced & awkward forwards on his home ground & gave him very little, so the signs are good.

So is the place his now or will Moreno be brought in for the homes games?

Moreno would have more chance if we switch to a diamond as we'd want more width from full back.

let's stick with the same back four

no need to swap and change until one of them start messing up

I was impressed at how big he is for someone who was 17 less than three months ago! Didn't use his strength as well as he potentially can, but that will come with experience. Very, very impressive.

Talking of which, did you see the size of that 16 year old that played for West Ham yesterday? Jesus, what do they feed youngsters on nowadays? Krytonite???

That kid is freaking huge as well!

We always had the odd big kid come along I think. Richards, Onouha, even Rooney, Barkley and Oxlade-Chaimberlain. Arsenal had a bunch of giants for their age when they beat us in the youth cup final 8 (?) Years ago.

Most of them fall away when they lose the size advantage when graduating from youth football to league; so it'll be interesting to see how Joe does. Probably one of the reasons we have him straight in the squad as opposed to having him in the reserves for a year.

Might be harsh but I thought he was the weakest link in our defense yesterday.

He'll go on to be a very good player though, no doubt about it.

Just not convinced he's currently at the level needed to compete for a top4 spot in this league.

Rodgers talked about stability in the back line so I doubt it.

Had a good run forward in the first half that looked like a cb striding out
