RIP. A name that will forever be associated with the Shankly era.

I was eight when he left the club so don't remember much of him as a player. Remember him more from sticker albums.

Think I sat behind him at the match once. Got to love players who are also fans.

That photo of him is great.

Really sad, I never saw him play, way before my time. But saw and spoke to him several times in the Main Stand car park before games and he was always so friendly, so warm and just a lovely man. Nothing was ever too much trouble and every time he signed an autograph, posed for a picture or just chatted, he was incredibly genuine & always had time.

Such a gentleman.

Gravy, me and our boys went to a Pompey match, Gravy had spoken with Brian and he got us into the players lounge after the game. It was a great experience obviously particularly because the kids were so young but from that special day meeting Brian stands out in my memories of it. I told him 'the last time I saw you Brian was Wembley in '74', he beamed at the memory.

RIP, a true gent, a very bright man and a hugely underrated footballer.

Just got the news by reading this. Gutted. Meet him once, on the pitch at Anfield during a stadium tour. He just happen to be there and was so friendly to us. Lovely man. RIP
