Right - quick question.

We chose a school in our local area for our son. The school has something of a negative rep but he's settled really well and is enjoying it. The school has a lot of mixed ability and special needs (not sure if this is the correct terminology for this) but the class sizes are small and they manage around this. His current class has 2 teachers on a job share but they manage that well.

They've had massive losses in teaching staff this year and have been unable to recruit to fill the gap because teachers can't afford to live in the South of England. They're now short of teachers and have addressed this by merging my son's year with the year below, having 3 mixed year classes of 35 people. So now you've got mixed abilities across 2 years, the special needs challenge, 35 kids and teachers on job shares.

The comms around it have been atrocious and we're getting held off from talking to anybody about it, instead getting holding letters and FAQ documents which, to be fair, do give you a list of FAQs, they just don't answer them.

So what's the path to escalate something like this to get clarity of the implications of the changes? Who do you talk to about this and what the options are?
