Premier League Fixtures 2015/16 - announced Wed 17 June at 9am

Rarely will a first month or two of fixtures be so closely discussed. Inevitable that we'll get one or two of the top 4 in the first few games and with the manager under pressure and Sturridge unfit till October(ish) we'll have to hit the ground running or it'll be carnage on here, in the city, in the ground.

But - The League is more than ever what will define the manager's season. He should play 2nd string teams in the League Cup and Europa Cup no matter who we draw - the likes of Bogdan, Manquillo, Toure, Ilori, Williams, Ibe, Origi - otherwise he won't have a decision to make come FA Cup time.

Bring it on.

Well, we clearly don't know who we're going to get first up. For the first time in a long while, we're looking at the opening day fixtures with a bit of concern - not fear, exactly, ever - but trepidation.

Even when Hodgson came in, we really didn't know with 100% certain how s*** he was going to be, and even though he replaced Rafa, we were looking at the first fixture with excitement, or at least I was - ditto Kenny's second season - he did well replacing the Hodge, so we couldn't wait to get started again. Rodgers was new and although 2013/14 was following on from a season of consolidation, there were signs in the 2nd half of the previous season that he was beginning to get things right (Coutinho, Sturridge). Last season, despite selling Suarez we were still off the back of an amazing season, so couldn't wait to get started.

But this year, starting as we know with an away game, FFS - who would you fancy for us to get off to a flyer - I mean, stuff the cod pessimism (Benteke, Stoke, etc..), but after the way we finished last season, who would you like to play to think, yeah - I fancy meeting them first up?

It's a strange one.

Surely not right. We requested the 1st few matches to be away due to the redevelopment.

on the plus side, if we do hit a bit of form, or if one of the new signings starts with a bang, then we can do some damage to those who expect to be at the top end of the table.
