Li'L Phil was quite a way behind Raheem Sterling and only overtook the boy wonder in April after the Manchester City match.

Raheem lost his spark after a great start to this season. One wonders whether his contract situation / his relationship with Rodgers has affected him or is it just an age thing (stamina needs to improve).

So Sterling finishes as our 2nd player this year - it may be his last season - i hope not. Ideal scenario would be that he sees sense and tells his agent to do one.

Simon Mignolet has been a revelation in 3rd. His poor start to the season enabled him to go away and re-evaluate his game. Jones' unlucky injury gave Simon a chance to bounce back straight away and he made a good fist of the season. I am still not 100% convinced with him though. He needs to command the area better on crosses, and for me he is a back up keeper.

Our best defender was Martin Skrtel again. He is a good solid player and we need him to stay.

New boys: Lallana and Can have been fairly successful without having fantastic seasons. Their time will come! Next year we will see good things from both I'm sure. Moreno has been OK - good sometimes but still learning what the Premier League is all about.

Young boys: Ibe is looking the real deal, him alongside Coutinho and hopefully Sterling and/or Markovic could be fantastic with a proper finisher up front. The future looks good.

Gerrard: Love the Legend, but he had a very ordinary season. Our win ratio without him is unfortunately better than when he plays, so lets not get carried away with talk of we should have kept him etc...his time is up. (Don't even want him on loan from LA). He is always welcome back as a coach or ambassador though.

Hendo and Can will be in contention for Club Captain of course, but also Lallana.

Kolo did his job when called upon; his contract extension is a good thing I think - for his presence in the dressing room if nothing else.

Players who disappointed: Balotelli and Manquillo - Will be gone hopefully. Allen and Lovren - will get another chance.

Our winner though had impressed against top teams and not so top teams, he has been included in most pundits' teams of the year...that tells you how much he has given to LIVERPOOL FC this year.

Please add your thoughts to our season's end...remember that the last 3 or 4 poor games is fresh in your memory and should be kept in context with the season as a whole and perhaps things that are going on behind the scenes that we know nothing about.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please raise your glasses and tins for our 2014/5 player of the season.

Great job as always Morse!

Sterling looked like he was going to run away with it until Christmas, but delighted Phil has won it. As much a triumph for attidude as skill and consistency.

Thanks Morse - bet this is a complete time suck (even more when we've been awful!), so really appreciate putting this together each week/season!

We're a weird lot. It's crazy to think that between 2004-2009, Gerrard's absolute peak as a player, he won 1 Player of the Season as voted for by the forum fans.

Congrats Philppe, looking forward to seeing you in a different kit in a few years time.

Thanks for the comments people.

It is a bit of a drag at times and each year I tell the wife that this is the last season...but I keep coming back for more.

This is a make or break time for our club I think. The owners need to decide whether they want to tread water or properly challenge.

A proper challenge will take money and a lot of their focus.

The stadium development will of course muddy the waters financially, but that is perhaps an indication that the club sees the need for an upgrade.
