When he went back to Dortmund, he played in almost every game for them. They got the the Champions League final in his first season back, and the semis last season. At worst, he's an important cog in their side. Better players than him failed to establish themselves in Real Madrid's first team. He doesn't even deserve to be in the top 20 players who failed to live up to the hype.

i don't think andy carroll was ever particularly hyped. we just overpaid for him. he was never the next great thing.
