Ed the Wool Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I got asked this in the pub on Sat night by a friends' wife who is a Liverpool fan. It took me by surprise a bit but it got me thinking of the criteria you'd use. Anyway, I'd posted on here about Terry McDermott when I was growing up being my number 2 to Kenny. I'm sticking him in at 3. Suarez at 2. And Kenny at 1. It's probably a bit like Beatles songs in that your favourite changes every day. Was hard leaving Rush out. Similarly Hansen, Alonso and Sami. Fowler. Only a bit of fun but wondered who you'd go for.
Swan Red Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Kenny Souness and another probably Gerrard today who at least gets a mention from me.
Ant Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I have no idea to be honest, for pure nostalgia purposes I'm going for 1. Carra2. Gerrard3. Owen And a close fourth is Gary Macca.
cymrococh Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Your favourites or the three you think are the best (presumably in your time watching)?
Maldini Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Never saw Kenny play so for me it's 1. Gerrard2. Suarez3. Barnes
Tosh Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 My most "nostalgic" player is Ray Kennedy - and whenever I think of him I am transported back to my bedroom listening to UEFA cup matches on medium wave radio and picturing him slamming a left foot piledriver into the roof of the net late in a game. That image is so evocative to me (even though it was in my head) that Ray is sort of what hooked me into the club. Barnes pomp was during my uni years and unlike Sen I didn't arrange my Uni around football (like I had the choice of uni!!) But beyond that, even picking the right criteria is tough for me!
Ed the Wool Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 Your favourites or the three you think are the best (presumably in your time watching)? Yeah your favourites in your time watching.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 My favourites (chronologically) were Barnes, Fowler, Gerrard, Suarez. If I were to pick three then I suppose Fowler would have to make way.
Stevie H Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Yeah your favourites in your time watching. favourites being different from 'best' then: 1. beardsley2. litmanen3. alonso

Nerik Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Only caught the tail end of the Dalglish years so I'd probably go with: Rush, Barnes, Gerrard (chronological order).
£440,000 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 DalglishRushAnd maybe Hansen Before Kenny signed it would've been Keegan.
Murphman Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 DalglishSuarezGerrard You could put this three in any order depending on the time of day. An honourable mention for Souness too...
cymrococh Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) You could put this three in any order depending on the time of day. An honourable mention for Souness too...Players who played with Souness seem to rate him as the best. Possibly out of fear that he knows where they live. Edited February 25, 2015 by cymrococh
sutty Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 favourites being different from 'best' then: 1. beardsley2. litmanen3. alonso Litmanen? Are you having a laugh?I think Suarez peak is as good as I've seen. But he doesn't get in on the grounds of longevity. So Kenny, Barnes, Gerrard. Too young for Souness.
muleskinner Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 DalglishGerrardBarnes Suarez nearly in there, and Fowler.
