fred milne Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 A couple of decent articles on Jan Molby and Terry McDermott that I came across in the Guardian earlier:http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/feb/20/golden-goal-jan-molby-liverpool-manchester-unitedhttp://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/nov/28/golden-goal-terry-mcdermott-liverpool-aberdeen
Leo No.8 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) It was mad that Molby beat Eric Bristow at darts past night. At the same time Jan always looked like he had the physique to be a top class darts player, so I shouldn't be that surprised. Edited February 20, 2015 by Leo No.8
Ed the Wool Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) I've probably said it before on here, but I loved Terry Mc only second to Kenny as a kid. What a player he was! Edit: Belting read that. Goosebumps. Edited February 20, 2015 by Ed the Wool
Bootle Buck Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Saw Terry many a time pissed out of his head on a Thursday night only to be magnificent on Saturday. Amazing little player who had a great engine and was very underrated I thought.
Davvo Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Saw Terry many a time pissed out of his head on a Thursday night only to be magnificent on Saturday. Amazing little player who had a great engine and was very underrated I thought. He was superb wasn't he. Master of keeping the ball down on the volley is one thing that sticks in my mind, remember my Dad teaching me the 'Mcdermott volley' in the back field. The Bruges final of '78 is well worth a watch for anyone not that familiar with him, shows off his terrific engine and technique.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 That's fantastic that Terry Mc one. What a player.
5InIstanbul Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Johnson, Heighway, McDermott. He ran further than Forrest Gump for that one.
Davvo Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Great read that McDermott one, and the Spurs '78 goal is etched in my memory, seen from boot height in the paddock. Molby one of my favourite players too. Great times.
Davvo Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 McDermott...goal away to Aberdeen Kinell.Best away kit too, as an aside.
downunder Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) His goal at Spurs was something special too. F A CUP approx 1979. Edit: read the article and it says it was 1980. Edited February 20, 2015 by downunder
Epic Swindle Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Case - Mcdermott- Souness - Kennedy Quite possibly my favourite ever midfield
Nebraska Red Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Case - Mcdermott- Souness - Kennedy Quite possibly my favourite ever midfield2 of them would be red carded in almost every game they played the way today's game is played and refereed.
Falconhoof Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 2 of them would be red carded in almost every game they played the way today's game is played and refereed. They might just adjust to the refereeing of today though, don't you think ?
Earl Hafler Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 McDermott...goal away to Aberdeen Kinell.
Epic Swindle Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Just seen Jans famously unseen wonder goal against the mancs. He couldn't half shift in his prime and was strong as an ox. Beast of a player with so much passing flair.
Earl Hafler Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Yeah, that's the one, love that goal. Hansen's goal in the second leg is superb.
oakie bob Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Too young to remember Macs's goal against Aberdeen, but was at Anfield when Molby scored that goal..............The best bit after the goal was the fans that got out of the Kemlyn onto the pitch
Nebraska Red Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Too young to remember Macs's goal against Aberdeen, but was at Anfield when Molby scored that goal..............The best bit after the goal was the fans that got out of the Kemlyn onto the pitch The crush on the Kop was almost as bad as the St Etienne game when Fairclough scored the winner.
Bootle Buck Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 2 of them would be red carded in almost every game they played the way today's game is played and refereed. They would be better than they were back then because no-one would go near them in today's game. Souness and Case were hard men but I can remember many a player bouncing off Ray Kennedy when he went into the tackle.
