Was he ever interviewed for the manager's job at LFC?

You'd have thought he might have been in the running in '91 and '98 (although obviously '98 was weird, since there was no vacancy and the joint managers nonsense happened).

Defo remember some talk around '91. Wiki says he 'ruled himself out'.

I'd have thought that by '98 his star had waned a little, but then he got the Madrid gig again so maybe not.

Am too young to remember him playing but I always enjoy his view when he's a pundit. Surprised he doesn't get more TV work. Does he still live in Spain? (That'd explain it!)

According to wiki

On 20 June 2014, Toshack was appointed as manager of Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.

Not to be confused with their rivals Wymum Casablanca.

They've stopped commissioning Terry and June

about time they updated it and brought it back

John Terry moves in with June Sarpong with hilarious consequences

They could do a remake of Brief Encounter, in which he doesn't even let her get on the train.

I met his son Cameron through NYR a few years back. What a lovely fella. Told us all kinds of stories about growing up as Son of Tosh, I told him a few about games I saw his dad play in. No mention at all about discussing the Liverpool job, in the context of our conversation which was over a round of golf and a lunch this would have been discussed had it happened.

I didn't know Real Madrid won the European Cup inside 12 months of him leaving, it was largely 'his side' apparently.

I assume you give Ged the credit for Istanbul then?

I did say apparently so I was quoting Cameron not expressing an opinion. But as you ask, of course Ged deserves some credit for Istanbul, probably as much as Tosh does for Reals win i.e. a bit but it has probably much more to do with the successor.

Ha, another zero talent who tried, failed, hated the realisation it's a game for proper ball players and threw his clubs out of the pram. Get to the back of the queue with Stevie H and that other div Macca!

Unless you are referring to you playing with your own testicles, I fail to see how you could associate being a "proper ball player" with the game of golf.

You failing to see says it all. Have you ever played?

I think he might have been a good manager if he had taken over from Dalglish as he was clearly brought up in the Liverpool way but I suspect that by 1998 the culture of the club would have changed too much for his ways to work. Put simply Houllier was the right man for the job in 1998.

John is a perplexing guy. He easily makes enemies and is a really draconian manager. He doesn't take sh*t from anyone and makes no bones about the fact that Shanks is his idol and role model. He actually could have been great for us.

As Murph said, Cam is a great guy and gives great insight into his father's career. Cam is doing well for Swansea now and is hopefully going to have a great career in management too. He's pretty tight with Brendan so don't be surprised to see him join our staff too.

sounds like a disastrous appointment was well avoided
