Ralf Little (!) has had a go at him and tweeted a long explanation as to why, seems there is a bit of history between them. Even so, you'd think they would keep it private, particularly when his illness is resulting in suicide attempts.

Presumably the asterisks mean that he's said it to the rag, why would you choose that paper after their track record of humiliating people with mental illness?

Ralph Little makes some good points (wtf?)

Read that earlier, I can kind of understand his point even if it does seem callous. This is the fifth time he has been caught drink driving and on one of the previous cases people had to jump out of the way of his car to avoid being killed. I do feel really sorry for Carlisle and understand he's at the mercy of a horrible illness but on numerous occasions he made the decision to get behind the wheel drunk and endanger the lives of everyone around him, would he have been forgiven if he'd ploughed into a load of people and killed them?

Tweeting that the day after the guy comes out of hospital covered in scars after trying to kill himself probably wasn't the time to have that conversation but then he was reacting to a front page story.

It was crass of Little, but it raises a taboo issue in a lot in cases of depression (or other mental health issues), in that both sufferers and observers are very quick to excuse bad behaviour by citing the illness when the two aren't always linked. People can suffer from depression and also be horrendous. Like me for example.

Wish him well with his illness.

Difficult character to take to though. Running straight to that rag with his story doesn't help either. Does he even mention if he has had any thoughts for the driver of the lorry who must be pretty shook up after the experience ?

He's still a c***

It's true.

Feels a bit harsh when someone is struggling with the issues that he is ... but it's not just good people who suffer with mental illness.

This is what I think about it.

Just because we are depressed, doesn't mean we can't be a c***.

I might start a support group called that, or a charity.

I think if I was to call Clark Carlisle a c*** it would ultimately only really be cos of what he said about Suarez and so am not sure am really qualified to do anything other than hope he recovers and sorts himself out.

Always found the "intelligent footballer" tag hard to fathom, saw him interviewed loads of times and he could hardly string two sentences together, always looking for a word to use that he probably didn't know the meaning of.

In fairness he may have been pissed
