What's he done now?

Dragged Hillsborough into the Ched Evans argument. Basically used it as a reference of people being unfairly condemned and later being found innocent by way of defending Evans.

He's an odious c***

He's apologised for the comment whilst making it clear he has no plans to stand down

That's fine the Gordon, cheers. What do you actually do all day for your million quid?

what the good f*ck went through his head to put these two things together though? it's utterly bizarre.

though if his intent was to create a distraction and take the spotlight off evans for a day or two it's worked beautifully.

He hasn't actually apologised, it was one of those 'I'm sorry you were offended' apologies.

he kept justifying what he said, pathetic apology

  • Effectively put the onus on those that were offended - they were mistaken if that's how they took his comments

Studiously avoided saying he would put his apology in writing, instead saying he would ring the representatives of the families. Because he like, knows and has always supported them. We shall see.

As above post - he has conflated Evan's spurious attempt at mitigation from possible grey areas in the judgement and legal interpretation of consent to a conspiracy and web of deceit to convict a wholly innocent man. s***e as that is, he also, by making the comparison, demeans the integrity and validity of the Hillsborough campaign

Shown distinctly more willingness to go out on a limb for Evans than he ever was to offer any kind of conciliation over Suarez, either the process or the punishment; he happily let him be hung out to dry.

Also continues to use the line that Evans "has served his time". He hasn't.

in terms of being locked up and being free to return to employment in this country he has

Posted

doing the rounds on all the media this morning, saying he has been very supportive of the Justice campaign and even that he has been involved in it - but he is saying it in that carefully honed droning voice of his so it's hard to pay full attention

one of those people you just wouldn't be, isn't he?

Which doesn't mean he's served his time. He's still under sentence, therefore, he hasn't served his time.

he's served the time in incarceration that's been demanded by the Criminal Justice system - we all know what he means

Taylor's bringing Hillsborough into the debate on any level is crass in the extreme and he deserves everything he's getting and more for that- I don't see the point of trying to hang him on a semantic debate about what 'serving your time' means
