Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Not relishing this as much as I was when the draw was made. Got a busy week ahead so unlikely I'll be able to watch. Lineup really doesn't matter unless Studg is back
lfc003 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Can only think yesterdays bizarre 3-6-1 formation was a test run for this game, so with that in mnd ------------- Mingolet -------------- Kolo -- Skrtel -- Lovren --Johnson -------------- Moreno------ Stevie ------- Can -------- Hendo - Raheem - Phil Subs: Jones, Manquillo, Lallana, Lucas, Markovic, Mario, Borini
Cam Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Can't decide whether to go for it with the front three under instruction to sit on their centre backs and JH & EC to be not so far behind: MignoletManquillo Skrtel Lovren MorenoHenderson Gerrard CanLallana CoutinhoSterling Or try something new/stupid in the hope of finding a clean sheet. The more attacking fullbacks overlapping the more defensive ones (as per Jones & Nicol in '93) with Gerrard playing Toshack to Sterling's Keegan: MignoletJohnson Skrtel Toure MorenoManquillo Henderson Can EnriqueSterling Gerrard
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 we're not keeping a clean sheet
Cam Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Actually, I'm going for my plan C: Don't turn up and accept the automatic 3-0 loss.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 now there's an idea as I'm expecting a 4-0 battering
Cheesecake Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Not been wary of a tonking as much as this match, it scares me, while there may be good parts you're still gonna get herpes, the clap, anal fissures and probably AIDS, as I said there may be moments of ecstasy but ultimately you're gonna get f***ed. Not a pleasant Tuesday night in store.
meepins Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 The dramatic turnaround in fortunes starts here. With hardwork, discipline, organisation and a good team spirit they can be beaten.I've seen enough boring nothing performances to last me the season. 2-1 away win.
Cheesecake Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Nah. Balotelli hatrick. f*** me, better stock on the dried goods before hell freezes...
RBM Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I'm expecting to see Lovren posting in the anxiety thread this week
Gerrardrules Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I'd start with 5-3-2 formation with Manquillo and Moreno as full backs.midfield 3 of Lucas Henderson and Gerrard as furthest advanced.2 Strikers would be Borini and Sterling trying to hit them on the counter attack or at least try.I also would open the door of the plane and throw Johnson out of it.
Andy @ Allerton Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Hopefully we'll set up and just try not to get thumped too badly.
Hus Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Hopefully we'll set up and just try not to get thumped too badly. Isnt that what we tried at Newcastle?
Eiler99 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 We were fortunate in the home leg that they took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half because they had el clasico a few days later. This time they have Rayo Vallecano at home so we have to be well up for this to avoid a tonking. But if we are and things click, who knows what can happen. Has Sturridge travelled? I'd be tempted to play Kolo with Skrtel but that won't happen.
Cunny Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Isnt that what we tried at Newcastle? ;)/> We didn't get thumped too badly!
épieur Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I'd like to see some old school Allardycian tactics out there. Play to win five yards with every set piece. Timewasting at every opportunity. Diving like it's going out of fashion. Hope to sneak one from a set piece. 0-1 defeat in a dreary match would do me. I have no hopes or expectations for this team at the moment against a team of Madrid's calibre. We've neither the quality nor the tactical acumen to do anything here.
Falconhoof Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 No injuries, an improvement in performance, building confidence and fitness for the vital league game at the weekend. Don't care about the result in this too much. Obviously I'd like to win, but the focus has to be on the league.

RBM Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Grow a pair! A pair each! Do I have to grow two pairs, as I'm quoted twice?
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 We all know the odds are against us, but what's to be gained by crying in advance? Will you feel better if you've prepared yourself? I whinge after matches as much as anyone, I know.

I have a whingey mate who stated that our season would be over when we get beat by Madrid on Tuesday. I mean ffs !
