Anyone else get bad throat infections (strep throat)

Just had it for the 3rd time in 4 months and each time I miss over a week of work. Stuck in bed on antibiotics feeling like crap.

I used to get it about twice a year when I was a kid up until my late 20s and then it just kind of cleared up. Then out of no where I start getting it again.

It comes out of nowhere. Not feeling ill or run down. Just fine and then within a couple of hours I'm in bed with aches and a massive tempeture and not able to swallow without extreme pain for at least 5-7 days.

This time the doc took all kinds of swabs and 5 vials of blood to see what's going on. Even a HIV test as well. (Great news for any hypochondriac )

The doc mentioned glandular fever which I'm being tested for. That was never a consideration before as it was never mentioned.

It bloody depressing. I've spent nearly a month of the last 4 in bed. I've no idea what triggers it which is really frustrating. I stopped smoking about 10 years ago and always thought that was the reason I always got it as it just went away after that. But now it's back. I guess I'll just wait and see what the results turn up but does anyone else get this and what do they do to try and prevent it?
